This guy, Yoev Gallant, has crossed a red line here. No one, gets to determine US "OBLIGATIONS" other than the US itself! So, STFU and ask humbly for our assistance and be happy with however we decide to assist you, if at all.
I was afraid this would happen under TRUMP. If he is truly all about "America First", he better straighten this fool and the other Israelis who think they control US policy out and do it quickly. No ally, no matter how much they use the media or friendly politicians promoting their interests, get to say when and if the US sends it's troops and weapons into battle.
I think the Israelis are entitled to defend themselves. I also think WHEN WE DETERMINE IT IS IN OUR BEST INTERESTS to support a foreign country in a war, that is fine. But, no foreign country gets to tell us we have an obligation to do anything. Once we give into that kind of thinking we may as well dissolve Congress and just have the Knesset run the country. No Americans should fight and die unless our people decide they should. PERIOD.
I know it's been popular for many Americans to elevate Israel to some higher status in the world than any other foreign country. And we on the right are probably the most guilty group of all in that regard. We turn a blind eye to some (most?...all?) of the questionable crap they do and quickly forget the many instances that they have demonstrated that they will screw the US over in a minute if they think they can get away with it. I've listed a number of those things before on this board. They are up front saying they put their country's interests first in these situations. OK, let's believe them and let's say the same thing back to them.
In the prior cases when the Israelis have screwed us over, they didn't blatantly come out and tell us they could set our foreign policy. This is a new level of Israeli entitlement and audacity. TRUMP better react to this bigly.
