Something isn't adding up here. DT at 230 lbs? His profile says WDE. I'm assuming he's a DE all the way?Four-Star Maryland DL Yvan Kemajou commits to Penn State

You might be right. 230 is defiiniitely too light for DT and he'd have a long way to go to get to playing weight for DT.Something isn't adding up here. DT at 230 lbs? His profile says WDE. I'm assuming he's a DE all the way?
230 to DT weight is a big jump. Is it feasible? Is it possible that he's already more than 240 or that he's not really being looked at as a DT? It just seems like a huge amount of weight to add to an athlete without jeopardizing their movement. He is 240 and he will be 260 a month after his season ends.

The article says that the plan is to put on weight and that he has the frame to accommodate it.Something isn't adding up here. DT at 230 lbs? His profile says WDE. I'm assuming he's a DE all the way?
I've heard you use the 110lb freshman cheerleaders line before but I don't recommend continuing it. It's not accurate. One of the girls I dated at PSU was on the cheerleading squad. I knew all her girlfriends and they were generally very tiny and it didn't change the next year. If they were 110, they stayed 110 and they were very conscious of it.Dont we go through this EVERY year?
Is Tony Rojas still 195?
110 lb freshman cheerleaders put on 15 lbs their freshman year and you are worried about a 6'3, 17 year old putting on weight.
He will be 260+ when he walks on campus.
True, maybe @bison13 knows more about the young man. He's clearly talented.I'd like to hear Bison's perspective. He's plugged into MD football.
He’s only 17 years old. The staff feels he can handle the weight but we don’t know if he will ever show up on campus let alone target him for a position. If he can’t put on the weight, he’ll play DE.230 to DT weight is a big jump. Is it feasible? Is it possible that he's already more than 240 or that he's not really being looked at as a DT? He’s kind of a JV Chop Robinson from what I’ve seen. Not that level of explosiveness but similar. I know that it says he’s played some defensive tackle and offensive tackle but last year all I saw was defensive end and tight end to utilize his athleticism off the edge. He does have the frame to add some weight so maybe he could get up there. I’ll try to talk to a couple guys who are closer to him than me and see if the height and weight are legit and what they think his future position is.I'd like to hear Bison's perspective. He would need to gain 50-60 pounds from where he is now to get to the 290 range. At 6'3" he could get there but that is a heck of a lot of weight. I'lll be curious what positions he is playing his senior year. He’s kind of a JV Chop Robinson from what I’ve seen. Not that level of explosiveness but similar. I will say that in general, football players gain mass and especially early in their career. But I do think it's valid concern that a kid listed at 230 is not really a viable DT unless something is not being conveyed to us. Is he already 250 and projected to play at only 280? Is he still growing? I just believe that we don't have the full story here because 230 to college ready DT is a HUGE leap to make.
Of course I do. And Harvey IS a DE. It's easy to believe that a 240 lbs DE prospect is projected at DE in college.Do you think it is possible that a kid who weighed 230, 6 months ago is no longer 230? Jaelyn Harvey checked in at 270 and his profile said 240. Do you think you have more accurate info than the staff?
True it is that’s why I said I’m gonna ask if that’s a legit height and weight for him. his high school team won the seven on seven championship at Towson University a couple weeks ago. He got a little bit of run at tight end as well as on the DLHe would need to gain 50-60 pounds from where he is now to get to the 290 range. But that's why I asked about this apparent discrepancy of a 230 lb DT prospect. I simply said something wasn't adding up. Because the profile says 230 lb WDE and the comments from rivals say that he is a DT... I've never heard of a 4-star DT prospect that is listed at only 230 lbs. So something doesn't add up and we should hopefully get some clarification.
Sounds like an athlete more than anything at this point. Get the kid into the weight room and see where he fits after a year or two.True it is that’s why I said I’m gonna ask if that’s a legit height and weight for him. his high school team won the seven on seven championship at Towson University a couple weeks ago. Thank you for providing more of the picture. I suspected this was more likely the case. But hey, he's an athlete that they like, so let's see what a couple of off-seasons in the strength program do for the young man.Spoke to a Paint Branch coach and Kemajou's ht and weight are legit in the profile 6'3 and around 230. He is a DE and recruited as a DE first. They like his speed, arm length, etc. but still raw with the pass rush techniques. He has the frame to put on more weight so he could be a DT project like Gilliam. Gilliam was a DE and very good basketball player in HS, but once he stopped playing basketball the weight came on quicker.
Great insight, thank you. He seems like a DE to me but what do I know.Spoke to a Paint Branch coach and Kemajou's ht and weight are legit in the profile 6'3 and around 230.
