The game today was frustrating even with my low expectations against a much more experienced and talented team. But he did not fumble the ball that led to a possible 14 point turnaround (at least a 10 point turnaround) at a point where we were arguably outplaying MSU. He did not choose to play without his starting DE's (one of whom was a dominant force when healthy) forcing a desperation lineup change. He did not drop the two point conversion leading to the decision to go for an all or nothing onside kick attempt with a lot of time left.

Yes, the game was over at that point, and the team did effectively quit. Can anyone dispute the analsyis that our banged up and tired D could not have stopped MSU even if they had kicked deep?

But how many would have criticized him for failing to roll the dice and try to win? Yes, different decisons may have lead to a closer score, but a loss nevertheless.

I recall a certain head coach working through growing pains while suffering through a mediocre first season and an embarrassing bowl fiasco in his second, while attempting to build a different type of program from the bottom up. Some on this board would have had him fired without waiting to see if his plan worked.

I don't know if Franklin's plan will work, but those of you howling for his head need to grow up. IMHO, of course.
