Franklin now 8-9 his last 17 conference games!

I really don't understand all of the hatred for Franklin and all the calls for him to be fired. He took over a program that was not in great shape and has been in the college football playoff talk almost every year. Should he be fired because he isn't making the playoff? If that is your criteria then almost every coach in college football should be fired. There are 4 slots. Almost every year 2-3 of the spots have been taken Alabama, Clemson, Oklahoma, and Ohio State. I would estimate that at least 95% of the coaches in college football haven't made the playoff. Should they all be fired? Franklin has been a great recruiter and has put a good team on the field every year that he has been here (except for last year).

Additionally, you don't fire someone unless you can hire someone who can do the job better. You don't just fire someone and hope you will find a better solution. I have news for you, Nick Saban is not leaving Alabama and coming to Penn State. Urban Meyer isn't leaving the NFL to come to Penn State. Outside of those two, I don't think some of you would be happy with anyone else.

And even if we hired Nick Saban, I wonder how long it would take without him winning a national championship before some of you start calling for his job. I think some of you have very unrealistic expectations.

I believe that much of the fan base is tired of the lack of Franklins willingness to put an end to rumors of leaving year after year. Add in last years performance, the lack of having even the resemblance of a viable backup QB and then add in the stinker of a performance yesterday, it’s what you are going to get.

if you polled the fan base in the parking lots yesterday, I would lay money that better than 50% believe he will go to USC or LSU if offered.

I understand that a lot of fans want him gone, fans that probably don't know as much about football as they think they do. But again, who are they going to hire to replace him? I am sure there is a short list of candidates that would be expected to be better than Franklin and are willing to come here. Not to mention there is a great recruiting class coming in, a class that Franklin brought in. Not only do you need to hire a coach who can out perform Franklin but also one that can maintain Drew Allar, specifically, and much of the rest of the incoming class. It's not going to be as easy as all of those fans think.

I don't think that's what KCLion was saying... not that fans want Franklin gone (I know some do).
Rather that they'd like it if he'd stop playing games ala "should I stay, or should I go"
At least that's how I read what KCLion wrote. And I can say that our TG feels the same way. Tired of him playing games with these kids (#1), with the fans (who cares, I know)...
I get that he's in this for himself. Whatever...this act has really gotten old year in and year out. Just do us a favor and leave already if that's what he wants to do. But just come out and say you want out. I was foolish enough to say see you next year to BOB in December 2013 at the banquet...

This is where I am. The playoff is a joke and perhaps even worse than the pre-BCS days. You basically have 126 contending for one spot, in the event that they don't feel like putting in one of the four you mention

It should not be the main criteria for retaining a coach. Now if you want to say he needs to get to the B1G title game more often, OK. That would be a good reason
In this division, those two goals are one in the same. If he goes to the BIG 10 championship he is likely in the playoffs. So can Franklin win the Big 10 East? History says no,

The pre-BCS (bowl coalition) days were the golden era of college football. College football's problems trace back to the the irrational, illogical need for a so-called true national champion, which we have not consistently has seen...the pre-BCS era.

Well he did it once, and won the B1G championship, and the clowns put in OSU anyway.
Hate to break it to you but we were the third best team in the East when we won the Big Ten in 2016. Inconvenient truth, we back our way to Indianapolis as opposing to winning our way there.
