Judge Daniel L. Howsware from Bedford has been assigned the case. Routine hearing. Interestingly, all Centre County Judges were recused.

Checks on routine motions, progress of discovery, etc.
Bedford is not exactly PSU friendly, BUT many whine about him allowing "known pedophiles" to go free.
Howsare is one of those "Senior Judges".....a retired Judge who runs the circuit, filling in when the "local" Judge is unable to sit on a case (retired to the "Senior Judge" position in about 2009/10).
The July hearing may be "routine" in process, but this is anything but a "routine hearing" - IMHO - since this case will have HUGE implications wrt illuminating (or covering up) the clandestine activities of the BOT Scoundrels.
As mentioned above, he was originally from Bedford County. He is also - IIRC - a PSU undergrad Alum.
Wasn't able to find much on him.....there were a couple reviews posted on some "judicial" sites.
Howsare may be a great Judge....or he might be a pocket clown....I don't know.
I do know that these decisions are not made in a vacuum.....some little message didn't drop from Heaven saying "Dan Howsare is going to sit on this case". Someone - someone with the power to influence/determine this selection - chose to have Howsare preside over this case. It behooves all of us to keep a VERY watchful eye on the adjudication of this suit.
These are anonymous reviews, so take them for what it is worth, but here they are (they are the only such reviews I have found, but others may have some much better information):
"I am a paralegal therefore I think my comment carries a little weight. I have seen crooks in my time and Hosware ranks right up there with them. I think he is the drug king in Bedford. I know he has no concern for children brought into his court room. He ordered that a child be given to a child abuser and yes, the child was abused again, sexually. Howsare also prepared false document. He also supported a kidnapping done by one of his lawyers. Live in PA, especially Bedford County? Get the hell out. PA is the worse state in the union. Think about this. Their former attorney general went to jail as did one or two of their Congressmen. Lying, cheating and stealing is the name of the game for them. What Dan Howsare needs to do is go out and buy a strong rope that fits nicely around his neck."
And this one - which is actually directed towards his "benchmate" in Bedford County, but alludes to Howsare as well:
"I too know Tom Ling (judge) for what he really is. He had a child lie and he promised her a horsie (horse) if she lied. Recently Ling decided to oversee money for the county and he refused to allow auditors to check it. Ling is evil to the core. Bedford County took a step into the trash dump when they allowed Ling to be a judge. Dan Howare was no better. If the law enforcement wants to find out why Bedford has a drug problem they can check on Howsare, Ling and Logue. But I digress, the law already knows. Because of Ling's dealings with children, one could consider Ling a child abuser."
Time will tell. Money is more powerful than the smelliest gas blast or stinkiest pile of crap.
