Frisco down 21-16 after TD...goes for 2

Yes they did, the big difference is that they were not expecting too much more scoring to occur the rest of the game (and they were right).....

Not chasing with like 8 minutes left. That’s the biggest factor in my opinion. If they don’t that in the first quarter, what you say ?

And the 1972 Miami Dolphins are celebrating for yet another year.

...and zero questions asked. Guess it is not the slam dunk to kick the extra point?
And the Giants did it twice in the third quarter. It’s obviously the decision many football minds will make, so to call to call it wrong because someone thinks it’s the wrong decision or because it didn’t work is just typical expert fans that know more than the coaches.

Sigh...totally different situations, there was 12 minutes left in the 4th quarter and SF was down 5.

Was going to say you guys are better than this, but this is the McAndrew Board after all

But it wasn't the first quarter. It was mid 3rd quarter against a team that controls the ball. Heck, they had just eaten up over 6:00 minutes without scoring. JF couldn't be sure Penn State was going to have 3 more possessions.

I see that logic, but we also have shown we can score rather quickly. I still would have taken the 1 point there AND kick the field goal instead of going for it from the 8 yard on on fourth down. but even with trying for two and missing, I think we should have tried to kick for 3 later.
MY thoughts aren't based off any book but more personal thoughts that might not be accurate % wise. I liked going for 2 against MSU up by 19. It was like imposing our will on them and trying to break them. If we didn't make it they need 2 Tds with 2 pointers and a field goal to tie if we didn't score the remainder of the game. Kick the extra point and they 3 tds. Get two, they need 3 to tie, one with a 2 point conversion to win.
This is just me but it seems like the psychology is different from MSU to Minnesota due to the different situations. It's not the book or the %s, just my personal leanings.
