FRL: You Can Beat Penn State!

Unrelated, but like the logo in your avatar! My cousin's best friend is the majority owner of that team!
Very cool, SHP!

If your cousin has any pull, ask Bob Bradley to play a 4-2-3-1 with Jack Cork and Leon Britton as the holding midfielders. Fer and Ki let so many attackers through unmarked, they may as well charge a toll.

Funny. By the way, did you catch Dortmund's last CL game against Sporting Lisbon where Pulisic got a start. I'm halfway through my recording and pretty much every touch he's making something happen. He is what we've been waiting for - no more hustle guys with the touch of a blacksmith in the midfield.

He had a Bergkamp-esque take from a dead run that created their first goal and a beautiful tiki-taka sequence with Goetze that resulted in him hammering the crossbar.

Yeah Baby! Soccer and wrestling. Add in some geopolitics, financial markets, and some adult beverages and we got us a convoy, Rubber Duck. :D

Pulisic... wow. Yep, the way he deadened that long ball was suh-weet. We absolutely need more technical players like he and Sacha Kljestan. Those two just click. Mix Diskerud is another one-touch who was coming along quite nicely until Jurgen ze German tried to make him a six.

Feilhaber is a natural ten but couldn't get a sniff of playing time. Include Nagbe and Nguyen among Klinsmann's casualties of how to destroy an attacking midfielders confidence. This team isn't moving forward until the Klinsmann era ends and we've seen the last of Jermaine Jones, Wondolowski, Beckerman, et alia.

USA vs. Mexico, Olympic qualifier, November 11, 8 PM, Columbus, OH. Dos a Cero!
(Just have to read about PSU-Army the next day). ;)

Can anyone explain why the headline on FRL says "you can beat Penn State?" Aren't we ranked 6th? I would think the article should state "You can beat Oklahoma State" since they are ranked 1st?

Sacha Kljestan
[does best to imitate the voice of the late Stuart Scott] PIRATE!

Of note, and relevant to this board: Kljestan's last match as a collegian was a second-round NCAA Tournament loss to the Nittany Lions in University Park. Also of note, the Pirates have not been back to the NCAA men's soccer tournament since.

Not certain, pish, but it may be based on this: Link

CP's Predictions:
1. Penn State
2. Ohio State
3. Oklahoma State
4. Iowa
5. Missouri
6. Virginia Tech
7. Michigan
8. Cornell
9. Illinois
10. Arizona State

Yeah, it's easy to get confused over Flo's distinction between rankings and predictions. The former only accounts for what wrestlers have earned, which is why TRFR aren't listed, whereas predictions account for more subjective criteria.

essentially saying even though PSU is getting all of these top recruits, that doesn't necessarily mean they can't be beat. Top recruits don't always pan out to be on the top of the podium in college. So for you non-PSU fans, there is still hope it isn't all doom and gloom...

I'm a huge PSU fan. I think for sure we win it this year without a doubt in my mind. I just thought it was interesting/funny how they say "you can beat PSU" but on their ranking PSU is 6th. Goes to show, forget the rankings, why even embarrass themselves and rank us 6th when anyone that knows anything knows we the team to beat. Sure other teams may be tough, but if they want to take the title they need to come get it. Why even put up "rankings" when they so far off? Might as well just go with predictions

Already discussed, ad nauseam. Even the "predictions", while fun (and NECESSARY!!) as we prep, get geared up, and get the juices flowing for another wrestling season, will be way incorrect.
