To continue with my series...sitting in a hotel
Room in New Orleans overlooking the Mississippi River...counting down the hours before we fly off to Indy (via Chicago).

My thoughts on the key events over the past 5 years that brought us from Sanctions to back to national relevance

Part 1 - Bill O'Brien settles QB battle and turns Matt McGloin into an NFL QB

Part 2 - Christian Hackeberg and Adam Brenneman reaffirm their commitments to PSU

Part 3 - Christian Hackenberg to Allen Robinson and 4 OTs

As I stated in Part 2, the commitment by Christian Hackenberg opened up the eyes of many skill position players that are now having a significant impact on our offensive success this year, however, one game in particular, played in Hackenberg's true freshman season had tremendous recruiting ramifications that are now showing up in the success of our team. PSUs greatest win of the B'OB era from the perspective of its impact on the future of the Nittany Lion football program came on a gorgeous mid October evening in 2013 in front of a white out crowd against Michigan...in a game
that brought many grown men (including myself) to tears, Hackenberg to Allen Robinson gave us hope and Bill Belton brought on the tears of joy. But more important that this win at the time...the stadium atmosphere that accompanied this victory throughout the entire game, gave recruits in attendance that desire to be a part of something special for the future, something bigger than themselves...one recruit in particular, knew after this game that this was where he wanted to play his college ball, he is now the reigning B1G offensive player of the year.

PSU's 4 OT win over Michigan in October of 2013 proved to recruits that PSU would not go Quietly into the night...that we had he horses to continue to compete and win and build for the future...and that we had the never failing fan support that players want to win for. The Magic made between Christian Hackenberg and Allen Robinson that season, best exemplified by the clutch plays in the final minute of regulation of this game was a defining moment in the 5 year comeback story that contributed to this magical run and our return to national relevance.
