what exactly happened on that play? I was yelling, “No, no, no!” As soon as I saw the ball snapped while Hamler was in motion. I figured it was going to be a silly handoff to him instead of just running ahead for a TD. But it looked like he threw the play off which led to the fumble. Was he supposed to be clear of that spot when the ball was snapped?

Hamler had no effect on the play, just a bad exchange between TM and MS

But there is no way Hamler was supposed to be in that spot when the ball snapped, is there?

Hamler was a decoy on that play, but they will run other plays where hamler or some other WR is in motion at the snap and they will give to WR. Maybe this is based upon reads, but Hamler had no impact on the bumbled exchange.

By the way, Trace put the ball on Sanders’ hip and let it go. My take is that the ball should have been in Sanders’ gut if Trace was going to give to him.

Trace effectively turned the ball over twice in three plays.

Didn't hand the ball to Sanders causing a fumble.
Handed the ball to sanders (following series)
Threw a pick six.

Bad stretch for him.

Who knows.....maybe it was a fake to Sanders and a toss to Hamler in the flat?

A shame, because even if we don’t get a TD on that series, a FG would have made it a 17 pt / 3 score game.

But Hamler almost ran into McSorleyand Sanders, didn’t he?
