Future PSU wrestler...

A wee bit too early to predict anything.

So exactly when can I expect his projected weight and for him to show up in the pinned recruitment spreadsheet?

Not only am I hopeful he will fulfill his dreams, I'll go out on a limb and predict, if he stays dedicated with the same demeanor, then he'll be on PSU's wrestling team after he graduates.

How old was Chance M when he became well known? I think I recall a SI article when he was a pre-teen. I certainly could look it up, but that would take all the fun in seeing the replies

Whats you definition of "Well Known"? I'd say 6th grade is when things started to build quickly. As an 8th grader he had the infamous entry at the Nittany Lion Open.

This is the 87lber that I mentioned in my post last week on the schoolboy duals, see below.

Not sure how he will project, but I was impressed with his grit. The OK kid looked pretty superior but somehow this kid gutted out a key criteria win.
Paid 14.95 to watch the Schoolboy Duals today on Track. Wanted to watch one of our kids, Bekhruz Saddridinov, a 7th grader from CR South. Too much money for one event, but Bekhruz wrestles for us with the HS kids all the time, his dad coaches our off season dual team, and he and his brother are great kids who we are close with, so I bit the bullet.

PA in a back and forth battle with Oklahoma in the finals. Got pinned a couple of times while leading to make it closer than it should have been, Bekhruz with a huge 14-10 comeback win after being down 8-0 and fighting off the last lace turn to not get teched. Tucker Hogan (Daniel Boone, I think) with a pin when down by 5 in the 2nd to put PA ahead in the 3rd to last match.

Sonny Sasso in a match to clinch it . 2-2 score. OK probably favored at HWY, so it's all coming down to this.

Track feed goes out.

If this was FLO, just saying....

NOTE - Sasso went on to win 12-2 for the tech and PA won 43-39 to take both the Freestyle and Greco Schoolboy titles. Just by watching today, we still kind of stink at the international styles compared to the two other states I saw us wrestle, but we had some nice looking athletes who will be nails in folkstyle in this age group.

Mason Gibson - I would assume he's Forest Hills, Erik's younger brother. Assuming he is in 8th grade and he will have an immediate impact next year if so.

A couple of lightweights - Nathan Desmond and Bo Bassett. I know Desmond is a Redhawk kid (maybe Easton?) I've been seeing his name for years. Bassett - I've seen the name, but no clue where he's from.

Nick Kunstek - I think he's DXI but not sure. Got teched in the last match by Jace Roller - who must be really good as I'm familiar with his name for some reason and he's wrestling 14U and is from Oklahoma - still looked tough and I wouldn't bet against him if that match was folkstyle.

Dylan Evans - 125lber looked tough, never seen him before but was impressed.

Sonny Sasso - not Sammy at his age, but long and lean - was wrestling 187 and I'm just guessing he was about 155. Could be end up being an upper weight in HS and that would be bad news for the other upper weights.

Bekhruz Saviddrin Navruzov - just spelling out his name for you because you will get use to seeing it in the future. Just a 7th grader and young for his grade, if/when he gets some muscles there will be hell to pay.

Also wanted to mention the 87lber, Dalton Perry. No idea how good he is, but he won a match 4-4 against the Oklahoma kid that I though he really had no business winning in a real scrappy fashion. I don't know, first time I saw him, maybe he DID have business winning it, but anyhow, I was impressed because the OK kid looked good early and I though he was going to get his lunch handed to him. If he loses that match, PA ends up losing.

He's 13 and weighs 87 pounds. You got this one Nico.

This kid is tough as nails. One of my sons wrestled him a few years ago, got smoked. Dalton was a great sport, didn’t do the flip my headgear to the side or anything, D.J. came over gave a hand shake, told my son to keep working that he was a good wrestler etc., We journey up to PA to get consistently good competition. PA is a different world from MD when it comes to wrestling and I like to remind my boys of that. So we go up for a few ass beatings every season. The Perry Family from my perspective are good people and the kind of people that are good for the sport. Good luck to Dalton. I will be rooting for many future successes for him.

Too early?? It is never too early...... I remember a young Gavin Hoffman dreaming of wrestling for PSU.... having his house filled with PSU items....and sure enough.....oh wait...….Nevermind :)
To paraphrase something I once heard:
