Here's my two cents (that nobody asked for) from being at the game today:
-Barkley was obviously held out. However in the 3rd quarter I did see him doing the whip/nae nae on the sideline when it played over the loudspeaker. He was pretty good at it. What does this mean? He's a go next week.
-Speaking of RBs, Lynch was jumping around very excitedly as the team went down for the alma mater. Doesn't mean much, but he certainly isn't on crutches hobbling around.
-I think Hack was a little jumpy to start the game. He was fairly accurate after the first 2-3 series. Someone might have mentioned it on here before, but today I heard people at the game talking about it. Do you think he has depth perception issues? It's just odd he can be so accurate on a deep bomb but seems to over shoot on the screens more often than not.
-Palmer got beat bad a few times. He still seems to be struggling, though he has gotten better as the season goes on. I'm no o-line coach, but he seems to be trying to push d-line players away rather than engage. On one play, he got bull rushed and just kept trying to shove the d-end away. The LG (Dowrey?) came over and leveled the lineman, almost as if to say "that's how to do it."
-Crowd was good. I'm actually surprised it was under 100K. I thought it filled up more than that. A lot of fans stayed until the end too. I think a combination of a beautiful day for football and a fairly comfortable game and nice win made people want to stay and savor it.
-I wasn't aware of this rule, but apparently it's illegal under NCAA guidelines to call Indiana for holding. I know holding happens on every play and it can frequently be called and isn't, but good lord, 3 plays throughout the game the offensive lineman had a PSU DT or DE wrapped up from behind. Like bear hugging from behind, and no flag. Was it Marcus Allen that managed to still make a tackle while an o-lineman had him wrapped up from his backside? Come on refs.
-If Hack is a little more accurate in the 1st Q and the WRs/TEs don't drop balls like they suddenly have concrete hands, I think this game would've been over by halftime. Not complaining, but midway through the 2nd Q it felt like we should've had 3-4 TDs.
-We can all agree the 3rd quarter didn't happen, right?
EDIT: Great atmosphere, great win. Not meant to be a negative post at all. Donovan called a really good game IMO. Or Franklin called a really good game. Whoever. It was good to see.
