Basketball GAME THREAD: Penn State @ UMass

Trails 14-12 early. Struggling with UM pressure.

Defense slow to close out on perimeter shooters. Offensive seems to be Lundy trying to do a lot on his own. Dread might be the most fundamentally sound player on the team but he just hasn't got his shot to drop.

UMass can't compete with Harrar's size. I'd really like to see Pickett do more.

UMass leading 37-33 at half.

21 of UMass 37 pts are from 3 (6 3pt FGs + 3 FTs from fouling 3 pt shooter).

PSU leads rebounds 18-10 but 8 turnovers hurt. Sessoms having trouble penetrating. Lundy forced to go 1 on 1 because the offense can't create anything.

This team is simply lacking shooters. On a typical night I expect our shooting percentage to be very low.

I don't get the game on TV but following the play-by-play and seems like we're pretty sloppy with the ball and giving up too many offensive rebounds.
Dread and Cornwall are shooters, or at least supposed to be.

Yeah...bubble burst pretty quickly. Reverting to form with Seth having a down game, offense out of sync, and a long scoring drought to start the 2nd half. I do find myself happy for Trent Buttrick. He is having the game he dreamed of against us. We are the ones who jilted him, and he is whooping our butts...earning it on the court. Didn't see this coming tonight....

Be glad you can't watch it. Felt like we were better than them in first half...but couldn't take control. They had a stretch of 3s that put them in front. Terrible start to 2nd half and we look pretty much like the team we've seen before under Pat and Ferry without the D. Trent Buttrick having a great game on both ends for UMass. Enough said...

Was Buttrick given the opportunity to stay? I was under impression he wasn't, but could be wrong. Dude lacked talent and was overmatched any time he was on the court for us. But he had heart and seemed to be popular with his teammates. Either way he had the game of his dreams tonight.
