I think they only shot about 60% from the charity stripe. You don't win games with that percentage.Missed free throws killed them down the stretch. That, and getting steam rolled to start the second half made it almost impossible.
My coach always counted a miss on the front end of 1-1 as 0-2.I think they only shot about 60% from the charity stripe. You don't win games with that percentage.
He was right.No Hicks?

Funny memory. We shot 100 FTs before every practice and the coach recorded the results. I was a bench player but a very good FT shooter. I shot 92% in practice. He was right.
I had a similar experience. Our coach was a taskmaster, I guess that’s the best way to put it. 6’7’ former player and all business all the time. My junior year our best player gets knocked into the bleachers with just a few seconds left and can’t shoot the 1-1 foul shots. Coach walks down the bench and calls me to go in and shoot. I still had my warmup pants on and he’s telling me to go shoot fouls in place of our team captain. I go in and by divine intervention make both, we win the game and my teammates carry me off the floor. Years later after he retired I asked him why he picked me in that situation. He said when he walked down the bench I was the only one who looked him in the eye.Funny memory. We shot 100 FTs before every practice and the coach recorded the results. In games I shot 78%. My coach asked what the problem was. I told him that in the game I was tired and just got my bell rung. He told me that was a bad excuse.

Team has been in a funk for past couple of games from 3-point. Amazing that they are winning and staying close.Penn State Basketball falls to Indiana in The Palestra
