Foul trouble becoming an issue.PSU up 37-34 at the half. NW in foul trouble. 20 fouls in the first half.
I guess that’s what makes the world go around. I agree with the commentators who said this is another knock down drag out game in the physical Big Ten.Today's version of basketball is basically unwatchable
I don’t think it’s modern basketball at fault because I watch other conferences and it’s not like this very frequently. Big Ten officials take over the game so often it’s as if they believe all of the fans come to see them officiate. As arrogant as some of them are they probably believe that.Today's version of basketball is basically unwatchable
Well the referees made a bad call by blowing the whistle on what they thought was goaltending but clearly wasn’t goaltending. They did correct it on the replay but Northwestern got screwed by disallowing their put-back.PSU won by 4. Critical call went PSUs way.
They tried to take the air out of the ball when they went up 5 and they almost pissed it away.PSU lucky to win. Some terrible posessions on offense in the last couple minutes.
Kerns on the break with the soft layup try that got blocked. Needed to take it hard and get the foul or pull up and run some clock with the lead.
Also twice Ace let the clock run down standing and dribbling and couldn't get the offense going, the second time he just jacked a long brick 3. Needed to run the offense and get a better shot.
They didn’t go to the arrow, they said because NW came down with possession on the rebound, they got the ball.Yep, it wasn't goal tending. But even though NW got the loose ball, if the whistle was blown on the block the ball dribbled off the rim adn it could have been called that at the whistle the ball was in neither team's hands and therefore would have gone to the posession arrow. Whoever had the arrow.
Those were some of the worst possessions under 1 minute that I’ve ever seen in a basketball game.PSU lucky to win. Some terrible posessions on offense in the last couple minutes.

That sequence by Kern damn near cost them the game. Truly horrible. But a W is a W.Those were some of the worst possessions under 1 minute that I’ve ever seen in a basketball game.
Yeah, apparently they blew the whistle with Northwestern in possession but they never should have blown the whistle. That was a clean block. They corrected it after replay review but disallowing Northwestern their put-back is a tough pill for them to swallow. They didn’t go to the arrow, they said because NW came down with possession on the rebound, they got the ball.
It seems like those terrible possessions in the last two minutes of games often has haunted this program and resulted in losses. I guess that it’s progress that they were just composed enough to win this game. That sequence by Kern damn near cost them the game. Truly horrible. But a W is a W.
And they have a ton of experience. I swear some of those guys have been around forever.I missed the game but thankfully we won since it was a home game and we cannot afford to lose many home games. At first this close game made me think we are not nearly as good as previously thought but upon further review NW is a solid team. I looked up their season results. They beat Illinois and lost by one to Iowa on the road. I think they are 10-4 with the loss to us. All their losses have been by 5 points or less. They are well coached and fundamentally sound. Take the W and move on to Indiana. Another game we need to win.
