I'm happy for him. He's got some talent, and was a real battler when wearing the PSU singlet.

I wish him the best of success at Drexel. I don't know their roster well enough to speculate on how he'll do, but I'm certain that he'll push to be in the starting lineup.

I've always been curious how athletes, and how students that transfer in to Drexel, are able to integrate the co-op component of Drexel into their schedule.

He'll be able to train with Matt Cimato, so that will help. Tirapelli is a good coach, and I like this situation for him. Best of luck to him in the future.

I think this works out great for all involved. Best of luck to Garrett as he is a great kid.

I believe Drexel trimester just started or is about to, so maybe he is there now. I also think his older brother Ian is at Drexel.

Good for Garrett. I hope he enjoyed his time at PSU, and he leaves with a Team and Dual Championship. Best of luck to him

Ian is his triplet brother, they have a sister, too. Best of luck to Garrett, he was still at PSU back at the Okie St match, so not sure if he at Drexel yet. He will meet up with past team mate Tanner Shoap from Chambersburg.

GH is a great kid. Will be rooting for him next year and would expect him to bring exposure to that program.

RUCreedo is the rutgers version of spyker. With all due respect to you spyker, you are at least OUR spyker of course!

A Penn St version of anything is better than a Rutgers version, right? Good luck to Hammond, it'll be fun to follow his career at Drexel.

I believe one of the Hokit brothers from Clovis is shirting at Drexel at 157 now, and the other is a HS SR on his way. Hokit-Hammond-Hokit 157-174 has potential for 1-2 years.

Regarding Tom's question about the co-op requirement: I'm not 100% on the details. Drexel is on the quarters system, so wrestlers could do this in multiple springs + summers, with internships in/near the city or near some other significant club.

It's an undergrad requirement. As a RS SO, Hammond could conceivably graduate from Penn State before officially transferring (6 semesters + 3-4 summers, plus any AP credits). If he enrolls as a grad student, the co-op requirement no longer applies.

Wish him the best of luck.

Perhaps with 2 years under his belt, he will make the Nationals. It might have been that he hit that wall that occasionally a true freshman might hit, late in the season.

I don't know why any Rutgers fan would be upset about this...Don't ever remember hearing Hammond as a possible transfer (I just couldn't follow RUCreedo's rumor) I thought he was talking about Manville. Hammond is tough and an Academic All B1G would be a great addition to any program.

"Transfer to Rutgers" is now a running joke thanks to Creepo -- and he meant Cenzo.

Like Jefe said, Creedo has made it a running gag.

RU might have been a good fit for Hammond athletically and academically, but the transfer would have cost him one of his two remaining years.

I kinda called this in a way. Only because I had him mistaken with Cody Law, but I will take it.

Wish Garrett great success! Always liked the way he approached things and I know he worked very hard to continue to improve during his time at PSU. Hope he does well and will be rooting for him.

Wow! Did college in three years? That's impressive. Good for him. Can he wrestle two years as a graduate student or is he limited to one? I forget the NCAA rules on that.

Being a graduate student doesn't change that he has 5 years to use 4 years of eligibility so he still has 2 years left to wrestle. Good luck to Garrett and I wouldn't be surprised at all if he makes the podium at NCAAs before he is done.

Thanks for being part of PSU Wrestling Garrett, and for all of your contributions on and off the mat. Good luck at Drexel. They are getting a fine man down Philly way.
