One trouble for Republicans is that they are stuck in these days, the first two I mentioned were the 1988 race, the next the 2004 race. Notice how shenanigans doomed the Ds? Republicans still assume certain scandals are going to do the same. However IMO Ds learned that nominating dweebs with 0 charisma like Mike Dukakis of the tank ride and I believe Belgian endive doomed him against the old School GHWB. Too bad he was a dummy and raised taxes, giving the Ds maybe the best campaign add ever, read my lips, blah blah. 30 years later Res still try to negotiate with these folk.
And of course Clinton was quite charismatic and dulled the " not presidential" charge to a butter knife level with his little sax solo on Arsenio Hall. I was probably 29 or so and that would kill him. guess I was a 560 yo man then and 29 now, because I came to understand what charisma can do and why it's necessary to win the Presidency. Dems don't need it now, Republicans better learn how to shred a guitar, be funny, or have the charisma to connect with voters. Policy comes secondary to that in the real world. You can't enact policy without getting in office first.
