"He who must not be named" takes the bump today for the first time this season.

Projected pitching line:

3 2/3 innings
5 runs on 6 hits
3 walks/2 strikeouts/81 pitches

Number of utterances along the lines of "We couldn't have picked up a better starter than this?" coming from out of Allegheny county this afternoon: Over/Under set at 1,354,832.

Barry, Barry, Barry, you little faith. Locke is a new pitcher. New delivery, working on new pitches, etc. Plus he pitched well in Cincy.

In spring training, there was a 3 man battle for 2 spots in the rotation and locke was the first one to be awarded his spot despite very bad numbers. It seems huntingdon isnt willing to release him, no one wants him in a trade and hurdle doesnt want him in the bullpen.

Locke pitches like there is some rule against throwing a strike

Locke's "stuff", from what I have seen over the years, is as good or better than most 4th 5th starters ........ But he just pitches like such a (for lack of a better term) pussy, that he is unwatchable

Great call guys. Locke sucked.
He danced around trouble all day, but going 6 and giving up 1 run isn't exactly sucking. At the end of the day, today was a quality start. However, he won't get out of trouble every day like he did today, so if he pitches the same way in the future, most likely he will suck.

BINGO

Always happy to take an "effective" outing from Locke - they don't happen often enough.....but it wasn't effective because of anything he did, more "in spite" of him.

That said, Hurdle shoulda' pulled him after 5 (and yes, I know he had only thrown like 50 pitches and hadn't given up a run - - - but watching him you had to know every inning he went out there was likely to result in a run or two for the Reds)

He pitches like that every time out.....he'll have an ERA in the 7s.

I'm not a Louke fan by any means but with 5 man rotations most teams struggle in the 4 and 5 spot so anytime that guy gets out of the 6th with 1 run against in happier than pig in........
