Bloviating Swedish Smut...anyone read this? Thoughts/opinions?
Light beach reading page turners. I read all three in about an hour ( read them at night while on the road). The basic themes are violence on women and corporate greed. Lots of intrigue. If you want to be distracted for awhile these mystery novels will do the trick. I enjoyed them.anyone read this? Thoughts/opinions?

I loved Lisbeth. I thoroughly enjoyed every ass-kicking she dispensed. And coffee and sardine sandwiches.
You forgot to mention .... "characters that insist on sleeping with any other human that even quiver because my plot is slowing and I need to make this a 600+ page novel"And coffee and sardine sandwiches.

Steig won't ever go down as one of my better authors, even post-humously

The author, Stieg Larsson was a Social Democrat. However, regardless of his politics, the issues he framed his novels around are ones that are experienced everywhere, and must be dealt with and put to an end; basically, sexual violence on children and women and corporate corruption and greed. Lisbeth Salander encountered both and gave the bastards several doses of their own medicine. That part was fun.I do think Lisbeth's story is made more interesting by her status as a ward of the state (or whatever her situation is); certainly leads to an interesting development in the first book.
Mara is an NFL heiress if there ever was one. I wonder which team she pulls for. Both, I suppose. Her trust fund depends on it.The Swedes are pretty liberal with that stuff I guess.
Still - I loved the movie even if a bit clinical. I loved Rooney Mara too - she went 'all in' on the marketing...
I thought the Swedish film was better than the American version. If you can find it, give it a showing. The Swedes are pretty liberal with that stuff I guess.

Yeah - it's really good. I did see the first one. Made Noomi Rapace a star.
Reminds me of Travolta's Line in Pulp Fiction - "who's the chick with all the s-it in her face?"
I'm picking up the flag for you, Midnighter.
liked the Swedish version better with Naomi Repace as 'the girl'
I agree. I made the mistake of reading the one by the author the Larsson estate hired. Sucked.I thought all three books were great and made for enjoyable reading. I won't read any of the sequels with different authors.
