Gonna be a cold one for Saturday's game.

Imagine if Tennessee was coming to town this weekend for the playoff game. They had trouble dealing with losing their heater for a 55 degree game in Georgia. ;)

I think cold weather is going to be a disadvantage for this particular Penn State team even if the opponent is from a warm-weather school. Tackling gets more difficult and we are already subpar in that area. Players need to be willing to take some pain. To my eye this defense seems to need one man to slow the runner and a second to make the tackle. A good spread team is going to kill us. We tend to swarm and get out of position.

Offensively we saw how our OL would stack up against one of the top tier teams. Not that great. We won't be blowing anyone off the line if it's one of the better SEC teams.

Throwing will be more difficult, and that is going to make running more difficult. Our backs don't break tackles. We have a linear speed running back and a somewhat tougher bruiser, but no one that is going to take advantage of conditions that stress tackling. We go down on shoe-string tackles.

The other issue that worries me is the extra time. I have yet to see our team use that time well. The opponent will likely use it better.

Would rather play Georgia instead of Tennessee. Our DL would have a chance to disrupt Beck. He doesn't seem to be one of Georgia's best.

3 weeks off, no problem, CJF will spend most of it on the road if allowed instead of staying close with the team.

I'd never pick to play the coach that has playoff experience and has won
If we can disrupt Beck why can't we disrupt Nico who has less experience and was freezing with the temp in the 50s against Georgia?
Georgia is the last team I want to play...other than Ohio State

I have found that if you use ThermaCare neck and shoulder heat wraps on your neck with a scarf it makes cold weather much easier to handle. I use them hunting in subzero temps and they help a lot. They also make a back one that is even larger. Toe and hand also help, but not like the neck ones.

So you're telling me that a team like Tennessee that was using heated benches in Athens two weeks ago when the temperature was in the 50s won't be affected negatively more than PSU if they would have to play at State College on the third weekend of December when the temperature could be in the 20s with frozen precipitation? Okay. You do realize that many of these SEC players never will have experienced that kind of weather before not only while playing football but also in life.
