Hack, you were part of the reason this program was saved from the iron fist of the NCAA. You stuck it out, you led this program to a place the NCAA never thought we could get. You took a beating, never quit, played hurt, played frustrated, and played for Penn state. You didn't have the pieces or coaching that were perfect for you that you may have found elsewhere but you learned so much more here. Thank you Christian for leading the Lions thru a very difficult stretch of Penn State history.
You knew you were NFL bound today...weeks, months, maybe even years ago. Still when you went down injured you tried to guy it out. When you were on the sideline you were totally engaged and doing everything you could to help Trace. Some would have checked out, why would it matter...watch from the back row knowing your career had ended. Hack didn't do that, I gained even more respect for Hack helping his understudy along the rest of his Penn State career.
As for his understudy, he represented himself well. Circumstances weren't great when he entered and he struggled. Regardless of what defense Georgia was in, he bounced back and the touchdown passes were a thing of beauty. Great throws down field. He made some huge pickups on 4th down when the game was getting close. He was clutch. He showed his wheels getting the first down on last drive around awful play calling not getting the ball down field. Trace got Penn State in position to have a shot on last play. Things looked pretty bleak, Trace hates to lose and you could see that come out of him.
Next year we will have a QB battle, a new offensive system that fits our QBs better. Whoever wins job should be able to do a pretty good job moving forward with the offense. I am very excited to see what Coach Moorhead brings to the table. Maybe a glimmer of hope moving forward but this experience for Trace will be key moving into 2016.
