Hopefully enough old timers still post here to know that I come in peace.

Should be a good game on Saturday. Michigan has not played well in its past two road games, Penn State's defense is stout going up against UM's ever-dwindling ground game, and you guys have the added benefit of a bye week to prepare. I'm surprised at Hackenberg's seeming regression this season, but UM's D has seemed shaky the past few weeks.

Here's to a clean hard-fought game. Wish I could make it out to Happy Valley for this one.

There's a familiar face...! Looking forward to a good game Saturday!

It is refreshing to see a poster from another school who is not here simply to troll. Go Blue, Beat OSU!

Good to hear from you again. Your posts were always objective and informative.

Wait - one post? You get caught up in the Topic View Vortex?

He isn't a very good quarterback.

13-3 ain't bad. Our guy got to 14-8 with a career day last week (6 TDs). Certainly trending well for Rudock the past two weeks but by comparison, 13-3 is pretty good. And obviously, I haven't seen enough of Hack this season to know much more than the numbers.

I'm surprised you decided to venture over to "Crazyland", in as much as we are all mindless, nutjobs.

BTW, whatever happened to "Schadenfreude"? I always thought that was a great screen name.

Still posts on the UM board occasionally.

Thanks, Anison; you are always welcome here. Let's hope for a good game with no injuries.

By the way, what has happened to the Michigan Rivals board? It used to be lively and fun; now it seems that a lot of the original posters left. I used to check it regularly but now not so much.

As far as I'm concerned, you're always welcome here. This was a much better football board when you and Dayton Buck were here to provide perspective.

I have a good feeling about this game; it's real important game for PSU, a win would go a long, long way towards getting us back in the upper echelon of college ball.

The first exodus was from the free board to the premium board about 06/07. Then there was a big exodus from there to other sites as newer posters took over during the RichRod and Hoke eras. The core posters you may remember are mostly over on TMB now (not Rivals mainboard, but the free site they started).

Frankly, I don't spend much time myself on The Fort these days either. Much more sporadically anyway. The quality of discourse and tribal reactions are at an all-time high. Just last week half the board wished ill on a UM decommit (who UM wanted to convert to academic 'ship bc of injury history), because the kid said Harbaugh didn't give him an opportunity and he'd hopefully find a chance at an elite university elsewhere. It was ugly - and yet there were very few voices offering any empathy for the kid's dream being dashed (he wound up committing to Western Michigan this week and I hope he comes back and tears it up there).

Anyway, it's just not the same place anymore.

It's very important for both teams. UM's only chance of making the B1G championship rests on a UM win and MSU loss tomorrow. Both teams playing for a lot. It's going to be a good one, I suspect.

Not a high volume poster myself, but always enjoyed your posts Anison. Good to see you posting here. We just don't see too many sober and reasonable posters from other schools.

Welcome back, Anison. I think it will be a tough game for PSU. The Nittany Lions defense is solid, but the offensive line is always a question mark. I expect um to win tomorrow. Too many athletes. Penn State still has limited depth.

Your Oline gets UM at a good time. DT Brian Mone was said to be our best defensive player in the fall, but he went out with injury at the end of camp and hasn't returned. Mario Ojemudia was playing very well at the Buck (stand-up DE) position then went out with a season ending injury in October. And our next best d-lineman was NT Ryan Glasgow who went out for the season two weeks ago. Our d-line was subsequently suspect against Rutgers and then awful against IU last week.

I know we don't wish the injury bug on anyone, but your OL is facing a very depleted UM defensive front. In fact, we just converted two guys from offense to DL last week.

Welcome back Anison. Even with your weakened DL, I'll guess a low scoring game. We can't tolerate any TO's, and even with none, our kicking game could doom us. Good luck for an injury free game.

The Michigan Rivals board is not near as active as the competing Sc0^t site. And neither of the two are anywhere near as popular as mgoblog which is where most serious UM posters reside.

Too bad. You had many good posters there, interesting even for those not UM fans. I also remember the old Victors Valiant board days. There was one poster, MGOAZUL, who was either a true comic genius and put-on artist (maybe along the lines of Andy Kaufman) or a seriously disturbed individual - I fear the latter. He used to get that board going with insanely long posts, rambling and poorly punctuated. The regulars always seemed to take the bait. There was another poster, M&B2 (aka Emmen) who used to visit our board from time to time. He was a decent soul who had interesting things to say. Hell, I even miss BAW and his HAAAAAAA! from the Wolverine board.

Anyway, here's to a good game, no injuries, and a Lion victory with enough glory left over for the Wolverines

^^ agreed ^^ My observation is that most (if not all) of these boards have degenerated into a cyber cesspool which has caused many posters to flee to alternative sites where serious conversation about sports takes place (I'll probably get banned here for saying so :)). Boards that permit name-calling (whether it be scUM, Ped State etc.) have fostered this environment and are as much to blame as the fans who post. It is reflective of a mean spirited cyber society most commonly seen in places like twitter - a shining example of how truly vile people can be.

Amen to that.

Welcome back, Anison! It's nice having someone from another team come here, discuss football, and not spew venom all over the place.

Stop by any old time!!!

Interesting. The "hype" around him sure seems to have faded. What am I missing?

Well I can see why the "hype" has quieted down. He has not looked great in most games. BUT, for me it is the god awful talent around him. He has mediocre WRs and TEs at best (none of them will play on Sundays). The OL is by far the worst I have EVER seen at PSU (and I am far older than most on this board). Actually his numbers and HYPE would be off the charts if he played behind Michigan's OL (or any other Big 10 line). To make the point not one of our OL would start for Rutgers !!!!
To be fair Barkely has been the biggest surprise and can be a difference maker. PSU is an "OK" team now. I am really looking forward to 2-3 years into the future when the PSU vs Michigan will REALLY mean something :)

He's a good but not great QB, and his improvement this year is probably due to the fact that the oline from last year has improved from the worst in school history last year to awful this year.

Welcome back, Anison. The "ignore" feature on this board makes it tolerable here, as there are still quite a few good posters left.

Given the type of person that cheers for Michigan, even the "ignore" feature has no effect on the quality of discussion on that board. (Just kidding)

Kind of ironic, two of our Olinemen started out as Dlinemen.

Godwin will play on Sunday. Barkley IS a difference maker. Agree that we are 2-3 years away.
