Grap Analysis: Scuffle provides more questions than answers for PSU lineup

Excellent article with one exception: Rasheed’s gas tank should not be a question. He went the distance with fire in the two early rounds. While he lost to Darmstadt 8-4 he was in the match...and not gassing...but did get injured. Still it was 8-4 to a guy that demolished Willie Miklus 9-0 and now stands at 18-1. Darmstadt is for real....and Rasheed is right there with him.

Oops...a second point. I would hardly say he’s undersized. He is tall lean and muscular. And if hes cutting some....it’s working.

This is a very very hard decision. But for me....the two would likely end up at the same spot on the podium. The difference? Those bonus points will come from anywhere Rasheed lands in a bracket....every match. That is too tasty to ignore.

So wrestle both over the next 6 weeks. 2 meets at a time. Then chose, and have that man wrestle tOSU and Iowa (or split). Then prior to the Big10 decide.

Not sure if I'm questioning his gas tank as much as pointing out how the sample size of his mat time has been relatively small over the past two years - whether it's bc of quick falls or injury - making a thorough evaluation a little more difficult.

And in his post-tourney interview with TheOpenMat Rasheed says he's about 10lbs shy of where you'd like to be as a 97. He is prob more of a natural 84 at this point

Corrected in the article: McCutcheon was the 197 NCAA qualifier only last year*. Qualified at 184 the two years before that. Apologies

Fair enough, Tim, but I’ll point out that Kyle Dake literally ate his way to his final title. Literally.

And it would be fair to say that Mouse was undersized and just short of AA. Never mind the weight of the current best HWT.

I respect the thought l, even directly from Rasheed, but it would not bother me. He is tall, lean and strong and 197 suits him well. Maybe he can eat his way to the podium and throw 6-8 bonus points on the fire on his way there.

I accept that the gas tank is a small sample size. You are correct. Experience from the chair tells me that nutrition related issue is gone. Maybe we all we get a chance to see.
