Glov never left high school judging by his posts. He's the first poster I put on ignore. I'm sure he'll have something silly to say about my above disparagement of Dean Smith. Just to remind him -- 77-74.
Since I'm helping spike your popularity on another board, I'd figure I list some of their responses to you:
You had said: "
Ha! In the 1985 NCAAs, Villanova vs UNC, Dean Smith was out of timeouts with more than three minutes to play. Rollie made Smith look like an amateur. Villanova triumphed 56-44.
And the 4 corners offense was a clear sign of weakness and lack of confidence in his players. Smith was way overrated. He had the horses.
And one responder responded: "
Well Bob, first I would ask the guy, how many wins did Rollie end up with as compared to Dean? Howe many times did Rollie lead his team to the NCAAT and no less than a sweet 16? Dean did it from the most powerful conference int he country, Rollie didn't. I wonder why is it that on basically every fan, no matter what conference or school Dean is revered as one of the Mt Rushmore of coaches, Rollie was not even a Blowing Rock.
As for the 4Cs, it was a weapon, a weapon that opposing teams could not stop so he NCAA had to form a rule to stop it. Rollie was a decent coach but his name should never be brought up in a discussion of Dean Smith and any fan other than a Villinova homer knows that."
Sadly, not this dumba$$ Villy homer.
Another responded: "
Massimino 800-488 62.1%
Smith 879-254 77.6%
And Smith did it in the toughest conference in the country
