What a fun snowy winter weekend in Philly-- Mrs. Garner was amazing singing National Anthem-- Great turnout of PSU Alums!!! Great game. Congrats Coach Chambers!! and all our amazing Hoops team. PSU Hoops is finally ready for big time!!! PSU Bball is loved in Philly. Loved celebrating win at White Dog Cafe which was all PSU blue. Now celebrating at Hyatt Bellevue-- We Are Penn State in Philly

I was going to post the same sentiments... except for the celebrating at Hyatt Bellevue. We stopped at my in laws for dinner afterwards and then on home.

Shep Garner's mom was absolutely amazing. When you know that the person singing is related to someone on the team, you have to wonder whether they got the gig because of their connection and not because of the requisite talent. She was strong, beautiful, and fresh. I usually get a little verklempt when hearing a great rendition of the national anthem, and this was no exception... with the hair actually standing up on the back of my neck.

The atmosphere at the Palestra was electric at various times throughout the game. This is another point in my case for blowing up the BJC and building another basketball focused, multisport arena. I would recommend taking the rec hall/palestra design and adding a little bit of John Paul Jones arena, to come up with something around 10,000 seats maximum, with portions of this capacity that can be completely closed off when not required.

Regardless of whether we have the BJC or a new/classic basketball venue, I think Penn State should schedule one home conference basketball game at the Palestra every year during the time when students are on break.

For all the comments about blowing up the BJC. Start a find pony up the money. Hell the university will even name it after you. Much better legacy than a bunch of whiney quotes about the venue.

We did White Dog pregame. What a great place. We got there before 11 and it was packed when we left at about noon.

Totally agree RD... this was a great basketball environment and allows our Philly kids a chance to play a "home" game. This should become a yearly thing for us moving forward...

Chambers' post-game press conference below. I have to hand it to him. He's passionate. I think he and Franklin share similar traits in their interest in their kids and Penn State.

I don't have that kind of money... I'm not sure that I could even come up with enough cash for a soft pretzel kiosk...

Penn State can do whatever they want. Obviously, they haven't seen the ROI on a basketball and/or multisport arena or they would have done something already. Honestly, if you look at it purely as a business, they may be perfectly happy with attracting more concerts and having sporadic attendance at basketball games. I would say that having a new multisport facility would benefit wrestling, volleyball, and other indoor sports beyond just basketball. I would actually prefer that Penn State returned to playing basketball in Rec Hall as opposed to the BJC, if a venue with better atmosphere isn't possible (and I'm not expecting that it is possible).

I was at the game, great day. I ended up, by total fluke, sitting next to Lamar Stevens' uncle. Very nice guy. Not sure of the exact family connection but he is Uncle to both Lamar and Chris Godwin. Says both are great guys and LOVE being Nittany Lions.

Lamar had a very strong game yesterday. Future is very bright for the program. We need to play 1 game a year, probably OOC, at the Palestra. Great for recruiting those Philly kids that we need to get to be successful.

Yesterday was great, but I'm afraid there will be other games like Wednesday against Michigan yet this year. The good news is that the bulk of the talent on this team are freshmen, with one sophomore and junior each. Next year, there likely be more of the games like Saturday and less games like Wednesday.
