Great decisions in hindsight 2016-17

Tom Ryan making duals optional for his starters seemed to pay off at B1Gs time.

Lots of story still be written on DT bumping up to 86kg but given how it was essentially two weight classes he jumped his success there wasn't a given.

Suriano starting at 125 as a TRFR was borne of necessity but decision was still Suriano's. Throw out the freak injury and he's probably pretty high on that podium, having wrestled Gilman to the last second and having tilted and nearly majored the eventual champ.

The head-scratching decision thread is a lot more prolific, and a lot more fun.

Nazareth coaching was great in the post season. Nazareth wrestling was fantastic.

Agree. The decision has to be evaluated at the time it was made, not after the NCAAs
Exactly. Otherwise, we could just say:

"See! I did not die from crossing the street without looking for possible cars; it was a good idea not to waste time looking for possible cars."

Cars = possible injuries or upsets to team members = margin of safety = reasons for future regret.

I'm going to go with our coaches decision to challenge the no call on the head gear pull in Mark's semi match against Valencia. That stands out for me as a great decision.

Seems like you can count the number of challenges from our coaches this year on one hand, while our opponents were issueing challenges like they were getting paid by the challenge. I've been slightly critical during the year on the lack of our coaches challenges. But, our coaches made their challenges count, in a big way. Bravo!

say what you want about the HR but this is pretty cool.

I agree. Been watching it and it even had me pumped up for wrestling in general. Nice to see positives and enjoyment coming out of a wrestling board. Easy for us right now (even more this year), but I have a good memory and can appreciate the place they are right now. Kudos for a winning attitude for those posters.
