inspired by a post in the thread about most played albums-what are favorite driving songs that you like

I think the following will be in many people's list:

Radar Love -Golden Earring
Born To Be Wild-Steppenwolf

Also for me

Voodoo Chile-SRV version

America -either Simon and Garfunkel or Yes

Whipping Post and In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed -Allman Brothers Band

All along the watchtower-U2 version

The whole album:

Allman Brothers- Ramblin Man

Marshall Tucker- Take the Highway

Beach Boys - all of their upbeat songs.

Little Deuce Coupe, Help Me Rhonda and so on.
One of the most interesting and appropriate coincidences of my live came in SoCal many years ago. Mrs KG and I were driving in my buddy's SUV with a sun roof (down of course). The very second I turned left onto the Pacific Coat Highway, "I get around" came on the radio.... Perfect moment--perfect timing.

The Who... Quadrophenia
The opening where "I am the Sea" transitions to "The Real Me". On the CD version, the explosive baseline of The Ox and Moon's drumming makes me want to open up the throttle.

Also, the Talking Heads "Life During Wartime" from the live album Stop Making Sense

Mentioned in the first post but I believe it starts and ends with Radar Love. Could drive across country with that song on repeat...

A "tape" Illi? Reel to reel in the Cadillac?

It's early here this morning, nothing is real yet today.

It's a round disc, comes out of a square box, disappears into an opening in the dash of my 2011 Honda CR-V. Not sure how it actually works, but I know one thing: a week from today is the first Sat in Aug and the Fonziemobile will be pumping out BLUE AND WHITE!

My go-to for road trips hasn't changed from the 8-track, cassette, CD and digital eras .....

The Takin' it to the Streets album by The Doobie Brothers.

From the title track to 8th Avenue Shuffle to It Keeps You Runnin'to Turn It Loose ---- great Road songs.

Then, when you are cruising home late at night, thinking about the day or your girl, or maybe she's asleep next to you and the track "For Someone Special" starts to play, well it will "Carry Me Away".
