Excited to add Kerkvliet, great talent. Can't help but think about how they make it work with all the talent at heavy. Will be interesting!

Was/am looking forward to see Seth do his thing too. Won’t begrudge him at all if he decides Fresno State is a better option. Or maybe he sticks around to stay in The Room™ and grow and compete when his name is called.

Big move in the arms race! Has the potential to be the most impactful transfer ever. Four full years of a #1 recruit leaving a top 3 program to go to another top 3 program. On the level of Mocco and Mark Perry if his career works out as anticipated, but it's four years instead of 2.

It’s great that Kerkvliet can use an Olympic redshirt this season, but does that prevent him from enrolling at PSU in January? I’m also curious if Brooks is taking an Olympic or normal redshirt. Either way, we have a heck of a young core being assembled.

I am really stoked and hope this sticks. Being the 4th choice seems to indicate he is doing some real soul searching. I hope he finds what he is looking for in our room, there is nowhere better to go IMO, best human being and Coach in Cael, best workout partners by a country mile, and maybe a tough competition to get on the mat vs Seth.

On that note I feel for Seth, but which ever of the two gets the starting nod next year will have to have earned it on the mat. Seth and the rest of the family have been loyal to us (I am glad AJ is making his mark now), are real class acts, and the recent news that half the family moved to State college gives me a bit of a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach.

Heavyweight for the next 4-5 years is going to be a real meat grinder and it looks like he have a very solid two-fer at least for the time being.

Let's lay out Kerk's commitments and dispel this notion of him being some kind of flight risk.

1. He's from suburban Minneapolis and committed early to his hometown Goofers, who have a long history of developing HWTs.
2. Then they recruited Steveson over him at the same weight. Writing was on the wall, he flipped to Smith -- who happens to be a top coach at a top program.
3. His freestyle career rocketed and he decided OKST doesn't have the HWT partners to meet his legit Olympic aspirations. He considered PSU and Ohio State, and chose to follow Snyder.
4. Snyder left for PSU, and Kerk followed him.

Perhaps he rushed his choice to go to OKST, though even that one made sense at the time.

With Snyder at PSU for the foreseeable future -- along with Cael, Varner, Cassar, Nick Nevills, etc. -- what is the risk of Kerk leaving? Not the risk of fans feeling uneasy, the actual risk of Kerk leaving?
