Greg Martin is back, baby!

Sounds more like Ms Martin and not Mr. Martin.

Now if he said he spent time back packing in Iran....well then I would understand the need for the post.

As for the name drop....I hear that is GRU type stuff to counter spykers full court press. Fire against fire.

You can never counter the full court press; you can only hope to contain it.

on the father scale of Cael to PD2, he previously gave me the vibe of an accessorized Marv Marinovich.
Eagles fans on a message board used to call Michael Strahan the "gap toothed moron". That name is a pretty good one for Greggie

Having known people at USC then, no way he's at that standard, or his son would be known as Myles Marijuanavich.

my brother lives right over in South Jersey

a guy who helps coach my nephews team was Myles' teacher in JR high ... said he is a great kid, but the Dad has always been a bit of an ass

Oh, i like Strahan but that's a funny nickname.

I don't really see an issue with that post or Martin's dad in general. I do see how he could come on here and read a FRTT post and think PSU fans are a bunch of assholes. Myles was clearly emotional after a win over Dechow to make AA. Being a 4x AA is obviously very important to him. He seems like an awesome kid and I was happy for him.

Not familiar with Mr. Martin's previous antics that people have alluded to so I have no real opinion of him, but MyMar is a good wrestler and I'll be interested to see how he does with a year of getting fully used to 184. Maybe tOSU would consider RS him after next year when Snyder, NaTo and BoJo are gone?

It's the Ruth crap and the implication he will be doing some negative recruiting.

A few months ago he was throwing the race card around as well. He's a gap toothed moron with the grammatical skills of a Golden Retriever.

The all-time classic was the post about the Nittany Lion Open match vs. Bo, in which he both complained about feeling (emotionally, not physically) unsafe because of the Rec Hall fans getting in his face (remember who goes to the NLO, mostly the local blue hair set, real intimidating bunch) ...

... and bragged about his 10-yo son's ability to hold the camera still to film the entire match.

The less great part was the blatant race card tossing. Glad his son went to Columbus for that reason. Ruths unhappy at how Cael treated Ed. Etc.

Stuff that didn't turn off Mr. Hall.

I'm also waiting to see how Nickals grows into 184. I was real happy for Bo, but very nervous. He did exactly what he needed to do to beat Gabe. He looked for the big move, twice, I think, but it wasn't there so he uncommitted. Very smart wrestling. Not as exciting as seeing the throw and pin in 60 seconds, but it won him the NC. He wasn't making the same mistake he did last year. He should dominate, Zain and Nolf style, for the next 2 years now.

Testa, don't hold back, tell us how you really feel.

:D

Seriously though, as far as Greg Martin posts go, that one was pretty reasonable.

Knock this crap off!!! My Golden Retriever knows exactly when to use a period and comma. Well, about half the time she does. Sometimes she misplace a comma instead of a semicolon.

Having met Mr. Martin - a long time ago my son and Myles wrestled on a team together at the Wildwood duals - and spent a few days in the stands with him, I actually thought he was pretty nice. Outgoing and pleasant. I guess if you aren't really carefully, posting on a message board when you son is a high profile wrestler can be tricky.

The "race card" posts were probably better left not posted, but I doubt they just came out of thin air. Obviously, Ed's time here wasn't as smooth sailing as some wrestlers. Plus, he was arguably a more accomplished collegiate wrestler than DT, but DT was pretty much the nation's favorite wrestler son at that time. That's something that won't sit well with a lot of parents. There are probably a lot of moving parts with that one and as Myles' dad, he was probably better off leaving it alone.

But again, I've met the guy and I tend to think a lot on here would like him in person or at least not think he was some kind of jerk.

I had a buddy who got crabs and he explained to us over too many beers that if we had the experience he had getting these little buggers we wouldnt be so quick to dismiss the fact that he had them.

Thanks Dice. I'm guessing there really is no positive posting on the boards if your son is a blue chip wrestler (or a shade of gray wrestler like PD3). Probably very hard to bite your tongue, and read the boards, as there are many asshat fans all around. Just think what wrestlers parents would think if they read our board? Way too many "Negative Nellies" or "Coach in Waitings".

Fair enough. Ruth was my favorite - loved how he commanded the mat. Nolf stalks his opponent in similar ways.

What can I say. I'm from Philly and get riled easily

O$U continues to mystify me. What we saw at B1Gs is what we all fear but its usually a rare happening. What we saw at NCAA's is the norm. Its the same with Minnesaota, Okie St, and Iowa. They cannot keep up and falter in sessions 3 or 4.

Actually thought Iowa had a pretty good tournament.

Agree with the earlier post. GMartin portrays himself as an expert and an "in" guy... I take nothing he says with any value.

Mine also. I'm from Allentown, D11, Northampton HS. Love the way DT wrestled for PSU, but absolutely 10X Loved the way Ed wrestled for PSU. Ed was merciless. I think it is the Steel Mill/Mack Truck mentality from the Lehigh Valley that makes me like Ed's style

I thought his post was pretty mild really. Even had some nice things to say about Suriano.
You need to know the Ruth backstory with Mr. Martin.

That said, yes it was pretty mild but, what can I say, in today's parlance I'm a Snowflake and am easily triggered

Wait - I thought you were from Delco??? That makes getting riled easily even more understandable than being from Philly.

Same thing dawg! Actually I get my orneriness from my mom who grew up in Chester and Marcus Hook in the shadow of Sun Ship. She's downright Sicilian in many ways.

Well I will say this, your orneriness and Martin's punctuation deficiencies (hell, throw in Dunk's friends crabs) and this thread has a high entertainment value.

I sat close to Greg Martin at the Nittany Lion Open. For a guy who was somehow intimidated or uncomfortable I remember him being pretty loud in his requests for a stall against Bo.

yep. kudos to bo for wrestling a patient, and somewhat subdued, match. he was generally in position the entire time. did not think he could rein in his agressiveness for an entire match. very impressive. had he done that last year, he'd be a two-timer.

A tech fall and 3 pins before beating a 2 time returning champion was pretty freaking dominant.
