Gross-Matos

If he looks like he’s not himself, just check his jersey number. I did.....it’s him.

Is something wrong? For some reason he looks like he's not himself...

I worry sometimes when a player gets a lot of preseason hype that it will go to his head. Not saying this is the case with YGM, but he definitely isn’t performing in games like last year. Injury?

Few possibilities:

Maybe missing the entire summer of workouts affected his conditioning both aerobically and anaerobically.

Maybe he’s facing double teams every damn snap (don’t know, maybe one of the film guys here noticed it)

Don’t believe it went to his head. Doesn’t seem like that kind of person (he strikes me as a lunch pail kinda player)

Maybe he has some kind of nagging injury

He's been down on the field the last two games, helped to the sidelines. Looked like he had some sort of hip injury against Buffalo.

The kid is an animal. 20 tackles for loss as a sophomore. He could be dealing with some sort of injury, or maybe Pitt did a great job double teaming him. People need to relax.

I'm going with a little of 1 and 2 and 4. He has been in and out of the "tent" since the Buffalo game.

He may be hurt. I don't know but maybe it was because James said the best defensive ends in the country. it is not looking like it now.

I love CJF, but he is woefully off the mark with his pre-season proclamations. Last year it was "we finally have an O-line that is not a weakness, in fact, I think it is a B10 O-line that can dominate games for us." Per usual with the line, that never happened. This year, its the best defensive ends in the country and they can't get off of blocks from Buffalo and Pitt.

So now it's Franklins fault for poor assessment? I'm going to go with the head coaches thoughts here, because he's the head coach and he does a fair to Midland job at it.

Something isn't right with the kid, and the d line has under performed. I hope it can improve.

Press conference coach-speak. Take it with a grain of salt.

Pulled or torn Rib Labrum is my guess by his stance, and body language and watching isolated film. You try to use half your body to do the work of both sides. That just makes other problems.

Look at the grimaces on his face and watch the film when he is playing, his body language when he comes off the field. 4-6 months without football would do the trick. Took me 4 months with just working on my tractor and car from a dolly periodically. Just a guess from what I have seen.

He will be fine. Would help if they ever called holding against the other team. I also don’t see the point of moving him inside on 3rd and obvious passing situations IMHO.

Quite possible he is dinged up or maybe worse. Certainly doesn't look like a guy projected as a potential All-America.

Shane Simmons, Daniel Joseph, even young Tarburton -- give them more playing time. To be fair, I don't know the facts about #99, but there are some capable guys who can take up the slack whether that be for a few games, or longer.

He's not right. At some point I look for the staff to bite the bullet here and rest him a game or two. The obvious question is weighing the value of an injured gm or a healthy Simmons or oweh or tarburton

right now he does not look like a guy who will be able to leave early and get drafted high (or at all). he has been a non-factor.
