I have had them on for several years. Downspouts were constantly getting clogged with pine needles leading to flooded basement window wells. I have only had to call them out once in that time to unclog a downspout. They were very responsive and they have a transferable lifetime warranty. If the roof needs replacing, they will remove the helmets, at a price, and reinstall them.
That's OK if you live in a rancher, maybe. He falls and is off work for long period; you going to pay his bills.
Nope. Once I had to get up and clear the down spout, but that was all mud/dust/shingle particles and no leaves.
Hey if you don't have an appetite for ladders and heights then spend the money. They don't bother me and I have a nice 28' ladder that I used on my 2 story house. problem solved.
Q: Say there is something more than a slow, steady rain. Say there is an above average rate of rainfall, or a downpour. How does the water running off the roof get past the Gutter Helmet and into the gutter?
To me, this seems like almost a scam-level product.
I have a product called Ever Clean Gutters. They were approximately 50% less than Gutter Helmet. I've had them for 8 years now and never had a problem or the gutters getting clogged. They have a lifetime warranty and if they do get clogged, the company will come out and clean them.
I have quite a few trees around my home, including pines.
