I know games like last week are tough to accept, but let’s take a step off the ledge and actually look at where we are as a program. We took an elite team down to the wire in a game where I heard many talking heads say that we will get blown out and about 50% of you clowns said that also. Our kids played damn hard and unfortunately we came up short against the cream of the BIG 10 the last 20 years. Our friends out west know what I know….and that Penn State is gaining momentum and PSU will be the cream of the BIG 10 in short order.
Listen…we are 4-1 and should be 5-0, but we are 4-1. If we manage 10 or 11 wins this year with a team that can realistically bring back 16 starters (if you count KOA as a starter and Miles leaving early), we WILL be the odds on favorites to win the BIG 10 two out of the last four years.
Let that sink in…we can bring back 16 starters!!! CJF hit the nail on the head in his presser. We are great and we need to work on being elite. Guess who else was great and not elite only a few years ago….Dabo and Clemson. Hell, for their troubles they received the moniker “Clemsoning”. Guys, we are Clemsoning right now. But guess what, Clemson is not Clemsoning anymore. Their program matured, got a Natty and played in two others and our program is going through that same maturation process right now.
Guys…we are only 7 years removed from the worst sanctions in CFB history and have two top 10 finishes, conference championship and Fiesta bowl to boot within those 7 years. Oh by the way, currently the #11 ranked team. Honestly, who 7 years ago thought that we would be competing toe to toe with OSU the last three years? I have been a board member for 15 years and NONE of you thought that, including me.
