Just got out of the game, VT/OSU, a bit ago. I'm reading thread after thread just railing and criticizing this kid. Give it a rest for the love of God. The heat this kid has taken is so unfair it's utterly rediculous.
First, this kid stayed comitted, not once but a second time after OB left. Second he has been beaten to hell and back and played with walk ons around him. Third, he has yet to have a loosing season. Do you realize how many teams have had not only bad but losing seasons in the last two years?
Now the comparison to tonight. We are talking apples and oranges here. Neither of these two offenses did what we did Saturday. They move their pockets, had check downs, used the middle and actually used wide receivers wisely. Look at OSU's 3 WR layout. Where did they end up and how far down field were they compared to ours? It's not even close. As far as running, both had areas to go to, Hack didn't. Both teams have veteran O lines and not a juco on the blind side. And finally, did you see what Washington did to Brewer? Yeah a broken collar bone, out minimum 4-5 weeks.
Michael Brewer is a great kid but there is no comparison to Hack and it's a joke to think so. He has no arm strength and that's just to start with. You can right this down and call me crazy, I don't give a shit. Hack is in another class than these guys that played tonight. You may never see it at Penn State but you will in the NFL. Hack needs an OB and it's that simple. Guys like Jones will get killed in the NFL and it happens all the time. Hack is not going to run like Jones because he knows better. Watch how he takes a sack, exactly like Brady and Manning, not getting killed. He holds the ball for one reason, to hopefully make something happen in an inept offense.
So many people here and elsewhere blasted the Oline until gemrich made his post. I'm not saying Hack is perfect and doesn't deserve some blame, but the kid has the entire team on his back because of this offense. 2 sources that cover OSU I ran into tonight said exactly this, "what the hell are you doing with that offense, that's worse than high school." Others see it pretty easily.
