This guy is an amazing talent with huge upside. When the Sandusky $hit storm hit, he could have bolted to the school of his choice and if he did, the decommit flood gates may have blew open causing extreme, indefinite damage to the team. But he stayed loyal to his commitment.

His freshmen year, he stepped in and smashed records as well as bring us some very special memories at a time when our program was unfairly wounded and grasping for anything positive...he gave us that.

When O'Brien bailed, so could've Hack. But he stayed loyal to his commitment, even if it meant learning another offense that was not quite suited to his skill set. I know, MK, transferring may have been in HIS best interest. But, as member of a high quality family and a graduate of a military school, things like loyalty, honor and commitment are a valuable part of this young man's character.

He got tenderized last season while showing extreme toughness and still managed to bring us some special moments.

Besides a few moments of on-field frustration last year (can you really blame a 19 year old kid for this?), Hack has lead well and represents all the things we say PSU stands for with incredible class, integrity and humility.

Fast forward to game one of this year and many on this board are already calling for McSorely. Grow up and look in the mirror! If anyone gets a pass on this it's Hack. He stayed loyal to us. He has earned the chance to figure this out. We have the luxury to sit back and nit pick the actions of our five star QB. He is forced to deal with the reality of being a traditional pro style drop back passer trying to implement a system geared toward a dual threat runner and gunner. Can you imagine the pressure he has of trying to deliver when he knows he's got about a half a second to get rid of the ball? Tom Brady and Peyton Manning are probably used to getting sacked 10 times in one season. Christian got sacked 10 times in one game! And 44 times last season! Can you blame him for having happy feet, losing confidence or being flat-out shell shocked?

I bet some of you on the board buckle under far less pressure (me included) then the tremendous pressure this kid must feel right now. He is an offensive machine that (thanks to the NCAA sanctions) has been unfairly tossed aside into offensive purgatory.

The sanctions may have been lifted and the great recruiting classes are coming back, but the damage still remains. The position group that was hardest hit by scholarship reductions was the offensive line. It is the rock bottom we all feared and appears to have arrived.

For me...whether or not Christian Hackenburg lives up to the hype is not important to me anymore. He will always have a place in PSU football history because he embodies the things we forget sometimes when we get all caught up in wins and losses...Success with Honor!

Side note: PSUDON I can see you coming a mile away so save your time for the other things you like to tarnish. PSUDON + oxygen = sucked-out-of-room!
