TFY Draft Insider's Tony Pauline is hearing that Penn State junior QB Christian Hackenberg will declare for the draft "very soon."
"A close source told me earlier this week it's the best decision for the quarterback as the situation at Penn State is becoming untenable for Hackenberg and its time for him to move on," Pauline wrote. Hackenberg has looked lost on the field in each of the past few seasons. In each game, he zings four or five NFL throws. The rest of the time, he shrinks from pressure, overthrows open receivers and locks into targets before the snap. We wouldn't take him in the early rounds. Barring an upset, he's going to get picked on one of the first two days anyway.
