LOL, Obli. Where in the heck did you come up with that?! Is that actual photoshopping that was used in some magazine? The brunette on the right looks vaguely reminiscent of Hillary Swank, but I believe it is someone else.

I just found it on the net.

My daughter, believe it or not, is finding some level of success on the pageant/model scene. With much of the sports/clubs being cancelled, my wife thought it would be good for her college applications. She placed in a national pageant when it was only her third one. So now she gets these ridiculously expensive outfits and is being photographed like crazy. It is ludicrous to see this cute little mall rat turn into a world-class beauty by a team of makeup artists and a photographer. Her make-up help was actually flown into CLE for the NFL draft this spring to do hair and makeup for several GFs, wives and on-air "talent".

For me, it has kind of ruined pretty girls. I now look for ill-fitting high heels (back of the shoe protruding from the woman's heel, toes hanging off of the front of the shoe), the inability to walk, uneven seams, and eye shadow color.

It all kind of looks like the wrapping of a Christmas or Birthday Present.

Obli: If it makes her some money, gets her into a better college than she might otherwise have done, and/or helps her with her confidence and self image, it's all good. Best of luck to her.

That being said, I am frequently glad that all three of my kids are dudes.

Thanks for the kind words. I have had to recalibrate my thoughts on pageants. (they are moving away from the word "beauty" but it is still a factor). I find these young women are incredibly brave to up on stage and take the heat. In my daughter's first pageant many people told her she had a real chance to win even though she and my wife didn't know what to do. She had to stand there while they named off the four runners up and winner. She wasn't named at all. Crushing, yet there she stood with a smile and looking awesome. The next pageant she won most photogenic, runner up for congeniality, best fashion model and 2nd runner up for a state competition. This got her invited to nationals and she won several awards and again won 2nd runner up.

In the end, she's become an excellent public speaker and has grown much more confident. All competitions, even music, teach that hard work yields results and that was all I was looking for when sports have all been cancelled for a HS junior. She now knows how to "turn it on" and it much more stable.

So, its been all good. no complaints. Other than the fact that a woman's beauty is more makeup and gamespersonship than reality.
