assuming that the latest QB free agent is able to play in 2018, how many games has Harbaugh played a QB he recruited from HS?

2015 - Ruddock (magically was able to GR transfer from a BIG school - who made that happen?)
2016 - Wilton Speight (Harbaugh recruit?)
2017 - Speight and John O'Korn (transfer from Houston) - Speight leaves at end season
2018 - Shea Patterson (?) transfers from UMiss and somehow gets immediate eligibility(TBD)

it is as if Harbaugh has pictures on somebody - if all transpires he will have about 14 games with a QB who actually came to UM from HS. i think he feels there is free agency in CFB.

what's wrong with recruiting transfers? he hasn't been there long enough to have his guys for the most part.

It does seem like he has misfired in that area which is even more strange since he was a QB - OB and Franklin surely didn't have that issue.

And no sooner did Brandon Peters get the keys, Harbaugh was trying to replace him with a transfer. And Peters did not look ready for primetime

Harbaugh's killing time for Dylan McCaffrey to be ready. Shea Patterson is a probable top 10 pick next year....I don't see where he went wrong here

A bit of a leap here. A determination on Patterson's eligibility to play in 2018 has not even been made yet.

But by all means, keep making excuses for Coach Sleepover.

Unlikely that Patterson will be able to play immediately . —-The other kids from Ole Miss have a better shot, but no guarantees. ————-Patterson has a redshirt year to give.......not good for Patterson, but good for Michigan

Why do you think Patterson won't get a greenlight?
Either way, UM is in good shape with Speight coming back :)

It isn't a leap--check out an mock 2019 draft. Sure things can change but Shea was a elite prospect with great potential. I believe he'll play in 2018 but I really don't care if he gets approved or not

I don't know how this is "an excuse". If we went out and signed someone like Patterson I wouldn't be complaining.

that is really my point. he is called the "QB whisperer", and he is going into his 4th season at the helm of UM. wouldn't seem normal for him to have a QB of his own by now - who could be a senior this year. instead he seem to thrive on what almost looks like a free agent market. for a QB oriented coach, it seems odd. JF is not known as a QB guy per se, and he seems to be fine with his own people. is this just a pro coach orientation that makes him different?

UM would have been interesting if the day JH walked in there that he had to work with only QBs on the roster or that he recruited from HS. his first year would have been a bit different without a 5th year transfer form Iowa. JF worked with what he had and what he recruited.

Patterson was an early entry. He was already enrolled in school in January when much of the manipulation/ misdirection ( by their coach/es ) went down. —-He had already made a decision....... although he was likely used/ manipulated ( obviously unknowingly) by the coaches to help reel in the remainder of the class. Dangling a carrot ( 5 star QB) that’s already on board can be a powerful selling point.

Wasn't his own brother on the staff?
