Has anyone been to the Army/Navy game before?

I was considering going this year, its something I've always wanted to do. I wouldn't be cheering for a particular team, just paying respect to both.

Is it worth it? Any recommendations? Anything I need to get there early, or stay late to see? Are tickets always so expensive? I was thinking they would be dirt cheap, and was surprised to see them at ~$250 a seat.

Thanks!

Absolutely worth it. I've been a couple times and it's a unique wonderful experience. Make sure to get to your seats early for the parade of the cadets as both corps march into the stadium. You'll have an experience you will remember forever

Have been numerous times over last 30+ years...always special experience. Must see the parade and halftime exchange of students that spent last semester at the others Academy. You'll be glad you went.

Go go go. like everyone said before, make sure you are in early to see the pregame stuff. it will bring tears to your eyes during National Anthem . Best college GameDay experience.

Thanks for the input everyone. Are tickets normally this pricey? Should I wait and buy outside the stadium?

It's not that much money in the grand scheme of things, but just feels weird to pay that much for a game PSU is not playing in.

I went to the one that was here in Balto. a few years ago. I had to sit between my 2 friends one was a Marine the other a Ranger. I sure felt safe but I took a lot of elbows to the ribs. LOL.
Its an awesome event. Both sides are just great and the fans are the best I've ever been around.
I was at the PSU/Navy game in 2012 and those Navy fans were the best.
If you get a chance go you wont regret it.

I've been to one Army - Navy game. It was in 1964 when Staubach was at Navy. I was 14 years old. Both teams were ranked in the top 5. Great experience. Paid zero for tickets. My buddy's dad was politically connected. Four of us sat on the 50-yard line about 20 rows up. Bobby Kennedy was just over from us! It was unforgettable.

There is something special about the Baltimore location that you need to be aware of (I just ended a sentence with a preposition -- I'm 70 years old and it doesn't matter anymore). The cadets and midshipmen assemble within Oriole Stadium at Camden Yards. From there, they start the March-On, and it can be viewed close-up because they must march about a half-mile to Ravens Stadium. Since one can view the March-On preliminary parade from outside the stadium, one need not be trapped in the stadium way, way before the game starts. My daughter and I will be flying in from Kansas City for the game. I got the tickets directly from the Naval Academy back in May ($85). The game is sold out every year; but, of course, there are always tickets available in the secondary market. There are also people holding up tickets for sale as one gets near the stadium on game day (but, I would not trust the validity of those tickets). As to the worthiness of seeing the game -- YES. But, the experience is not quite what it used to be when the game was played in old Municipal (JFK) Stadium. That stadium had lots of sideline room for more creative hijinks from the cadets and midshipmen. Nevertheless -- do it!
