by accepting a huge paycheck and playing another year, he increased his NFL value a lot. Drew is 3 years younger and has played half as many games. Imagine what he could do with a top wr and more experience.
Players at many positions who project as less than 1st round picks might accept $1+ million to play another year.
The NCAA is now the NFL lite.

I don't understand why this MAN is still playing college football. I know the reasons he has played six years in college football (thanks to the augmented redshirt rule and pandemic eligibility waiver) but it's ridiculous! I'll be glad when all the COVID related nonsense is done. The players actually hurt by the pandemic are all long gone, they are the ones that suffered.....not this guy! This man's season and career stats and any games they win deserve a huge asterisk.

What is obvious is that you have to play the portal hard. The elite teams do and that’s why they are elite. PSU doesn’t and don’t think that will change.

You need big NIL to hit the portal hard. PSU isn’t “elite” when it comes to NIL unfortunately. Those kids who hit the portal want a payday these days probably more so than the HS recruits because they have proven themselves. I would love to see Allar come back though with one really good WR weapon. Hopefully they have NIL complelling enough for Drew to have to think about it. Keeping AK I’m guessing would help also.

An older QB seems to be a bit of an advantage. Stetson Bennet was like 24 and 25 when he won NC. Burrow was older, Mac Jones was older. Experience and maturity count for a lot at that position.

Michigan won their natty last year because several eligible players came back to finish as champions. Most of the B1G will be breaking in new QBs next year. The championship is on the table next year too

Allar won’t be back at PSU unless they get him a prime time WR or two. He does need another year. His throwing mechanics are not good. Need DL’s too.

Yup, college football is changed forever. It's whoever spends the most money just like baseball.

Phil Knight spares no NIL deal in thirst for Oregon national title: 'He's gonna help me make my shoe'

Most people assume the Nike co-founder's involvement in Oregon's recruiting operation, but the level of specificity uncovered Wednesday is noteworthy

Agreed. Glad to see the Covid 5-year eligibility finally end. Freshmen who redshirted in 2019 actually got 6 years of college. 24 and 25 year olds should not be playing college sports against 18 year olds.

All this talk about Allar’s choice:
NFL or return to PSU
I’ve seen no mention of the third option.
Maybe Allar leaves via portal.
Oregon will have a QB opening.
Just sayin’.

It's not like Gabriel is the best QB PSU has ever played against. Or maybe even the best QB that PSU played against this season. He makes quick decisions and the offense they run allows them to do that. And he has better WR's than PSU does. And he can run, being quicker than most QB's due to his athleticism and small stature.

PSU outgained Oregon with two 100+ yard rushers (Allen 14 for 124, 8.9ypc, and Singleton 10 for 105, 10.5 ypc), and if Franklin would just let his team play football the team would have run the ball right down the field on the last drive...... And if Franklin would have stressed the run in the first quarter maybe PSU pounds the ball the whole game. And still a chance to tie and go to OT with Allar having a pretty bad day, other than the couple of pretty fantastic throws such as the one where a defender had his jersey and he still threw a bullet right on the money. But when PSU can't force any turnovers the PSU QB can't give up two picks into double coverage, one of which was basically a pick 6, that pretty much decided the game when the disparity of officials calls also went against PSU.

I'm not as impressed with Gabriel as some seem to be, and I hope PSU can get to the finals and play them again. I'd rather PSU play Oregon again than have to play either UGA or uh-high-ya...... or even Texas.

I think one of his extra years was injury related. He had a really bad injury while @ UCF that cost him a season.

He won't do that though that makes more sense than staying

So we had two 100 rushers and it is Franklins fault we did not run enough?

When the run gets stuffed you complain we dont pass enough to Warren.

Was Franklin coaching the defense that gave up 40+?

Gabriel's main advantage was he got 6 years and there wont be a covid year for players going forward. He was not sitting on the bench for two years either. He was playing and was the #1 QB all 6 years.

Look at a player like Tyler Warren and how much he grew as a player over the years. Different position but same logit applies to other positions. Warren was not the #1 TE on the team until this year. He was not even the #1 TE in his recruiting class until his 5th year.

GA would have to be before the final.
