Has Hack publically stated his intentions for his Senior year @ Penn State?

I heard he's having a hard time with the thought of leaving BIG officiating.

I personally believe it will depend on a few things:

1. His comfort level with the offense in year 2
2. The development of the other offensive weapons and OL
3. His belief in the ability to win a championship and the commitment of others to come back and play for a championship

Seriously? And if he did he would likely be the first ever JR to be that announced he's not coming back for his SR year.

If he continues to project as a top 10 NFL pick, then he's gone...

And we should all be very happy for him.

I agree. If he has the year that many of us expect him to have this year, he is gone.

Pure speculation, but I do not believe Hack's experience at PSU has been such that he would turn away millions to return for his senior year.

Look at it this way: if he is doing so well that we really want him back,

then he'll be a good enough prospect for the draft that he actually would be stupid to come back.

It will depend on one thing and one thing alone. Will he be a first round pick.

I don't think its that simple of a decision. If Hack is projected to be a late First Rounder and he thinks he can increase his stock by staying because he sees himself and the team performing better in 2016, then I think he could come back. That's my opinion.

Remember Hack is the kid that stuck with PSU after the sanctions hit and stayed again when OB left. I give Hack credit for being more complicated than you do I guess.

I wonder if it depends on how much he thinks he's developing at PSU

His freshman year under NFL guru O'Brien he did great. His sophomore year under Franklin he did not so great. Isn't freshman to sophomore year where you usually improve?

If his junior year is like his sophomore year then maybe you think he's not developing or not suited to the offense. Then maybe he goes pro, which sounds bad after two so-so college years, but the point might be that once you go pro you start getting NFL QB coaching and you develop. Maybe you get drafted lower after two so-so years but with the rookie wage scale the big money in the NFL as a QB comes from ending up being good, not from signing a big rookie contract (see Russel Wilson, a 3rd round pick in 2012 that is soon to sign a big contract). If you're not developing in college why stay another year?

If Hackenberg goes pro in 2016 and if Houston does well enough in 2015 that it looks like O'Brien is going to get to stick around and if Houston still isn't set at QB maybe Houston drafts Hackenberg and he's reunited with O'Brien.

unless we go 11-2 and win bowl

and are being talked about for a 2016 mnc.

even then....

well stated, LL

It happens. Luck hung around for his senior year! Hack learned more in 2014 than he did in 2013, which will serve him so well this year. He was humbled. I expect a super year in 2015 and then we'll see. I saw he was #2 in a recent 2016 mock draft....

Luck stayed a year after he could've left but rather he was a 4th year junior (after redshirting his first year) rather than a senior when he left. He could have stayed even one more had he chosen to.

Luck turned 23 shortly after his rookie NFL year began. If Hackenberg goes next year he'll be about 21.5 when his rookie NFL year starts. That may play into it. Hackenberg's advisors may deem him to simply be too young to go next year. Maybe it depends on your personality. If you're Johnny Manziel you should stay in college as long as possible but if you're mature for your age maybe you can handle going earlier.

Look, there is no doubt in my mind that Hack will be a projected #1 or #2 QB selection in next years NFL draft. He has NFL
pro-bowl player written all over him! The key is whether he would want to stay his final year of eligibility to help Penn State win a MNC!

Maybe Hack wants to earn his degree before leaving school? He did attend a private school for high school so I suspect his family values an education. Just a thought.

My bet... IIf O'Brien somehow figures a way that he would position the Texans to move up and take Hack in next year's draft... He would go in a second as he should.

Also.. Hack WILL have a very good year in 2015... No doubt. His NFL stock will certainly be very high and IMO will be a first round pick in any event...
