Has Minnesota ever made the Rose Bowl?

Yes, the last time they beat a HS team to open the season.

We were in the Rose Bowl at the end of the ‘60 and ‘61 seasons. Lost the first one, won the second one. I really don’t see how we won’t be there again this year. That’s what yesterday’s game was truly for, the right to play in the Rose Bowl (assuming you lose to them in Columbus and they beat us in Indy).

Led by Uniontown's own Sandy Stephens.

You had best take care of business (Iowa and Wiscy) before you start talking Rose Bowl.

Change Your Best. Minnesota is not playing to lose.

I had a great time in Minneapolis. You guys have a heck of a team, and Fleck has done, and will continue to do, an amazing job. Even though PSU lost I stayed for awhile after the game. It was really neat to see everybody on the field enjoying it. It’s why I enjoy college football most of all.

I remember one of the appearances. 10 or 11 years old and not yet a real college football fan. During dinner with the game on TV the announcer said: "and there is an injured gopher on the 50 yard line". Struck me very funny at the time and sticks in my mind today.

30+ years ago when I worked for IBM in the Princeton NJ area, Judge Dickson was that Division's lead attorney. He was another western PA product, a fullback on those Gophers teams in the '59 - to '61 era.

Dickson was from Clairton.

Those early to mid-60s Minnesota teams had a virtual pipeline to WPIAL powerhouse Uniontown. In addition to Stephens, they had Harry, b/k/a Chuck, Muncie's older brother, Bill Munsey (yes, the surnames were spelled differently). Last of the line was Ray Parson.

Don’t think they will this year. Will lose to Iowa on Saturday.

Early betting line has Iowa as a 3 point fave at home vs Minn. Hmmm.

Is this going to be Iowa's near-annual* surprise over an unbeaten B1G team who come to visit the Hawkeyes?

* hyperbole. Just seems that way.

Yep. Early in the week, but this feels like the type of game that professional better will be all over Iowa at -3. Will be interesting to see how the line moves.

Or, Iowa was all jacked up to play the Badgers and were certain that we would handle the Gophers. They thought that would put them in the drivers seat in the West. Nothing went as planned so it’s just as possible that they lay an egg.

That's also a possibility, but I would expect a letdown factor from Minnesota after yesterday.

Well it is college football so I guess anything any of us say is statistically possible. Except of course Rutgers beating OSU this Saturday.

Well the point spread and the over/under are quite possibly the same number, maybe about 77 or so?
