Ok call me crazy, but I think this upcoming season will be the most exciting PSU football since the 2008 season. Granted 2008 turned out to be a HUGE success. I'm not saying PSU will win 11 games. Nor am I saying PSU will be ranked that high.
However, I do think PSU has the chance to surprise some people with a 9 win season. Looking at the talent on offense I am very excited. I think Trace has the skills to lead the team. He is a high energy guy. Has a decent arm and the legs to get out of trouble. He seems accurate. He's the type of player others feed off of. You could see glimpses of this in the BW game.
I know it was only the BW game, but when was the last time our offense looked that sharp? The past BW games have been like watching pant dry...and our offense during the regular season were also the same. I know it was only BW, but there are things to get excited about. For instance, this new offense gets rid of the ball so fast, it reduces the need for shut down OL. You can get away with being so-so on the OL. Get the ball out quick and get it to playmakers in space. That is what I took away from the BW game. I don't care what game it is when you starting QB throws for almost 300 and 4 tds that's awesome.
This offense should really open up the running game for Barkley and company. Man is that scary. No more stack the box against us BS. Spread them out and get the ball to our playmakers. I think its going to be fun to watch.
The only problem I am worried about is our defense. Did the offense just look that good in the BW game b/c our defense is terrible? We shall see. I know we have lots of holes to fill, so im keeping my fingers crossed. IDK it seems to me that our offense should be light years better than last year.
