There are 5 former coaches including Barry Alvarez whose opinions probably carry a little more weight in the room than some of the others. From what I have heard over the years, Barry Alvarez is a "very strong" personality and may be a the defacto "chairman" of the group.
The former coaches should have a pretty good understanding of how much effort and work it takes to win a conference championship on the field of play, including head to head results. I suspect they could easily put themselves in the shoes of James Franklin and say "hey, if my team won the division, conference, AND the head to head game, I'll be damned if some room full of 'experts' is going to send team B INSTEAD of me to the playoff".
I am not arguing that these coaches are going to come to the conclusion that PSU is better than OSU. Instead, I think these coaches may very well argue for a agree to a "compromise" that if OSU is going, then so is PSU.
Which is why I think it will be Alabama, OSU, Clemson, and PSU (assuming all win out).
For those of you that are going to jump on the Washington bandwagon, I have a lot of objective factors that will be analyzed that lead me to believe they won't have any problem justifying a choice of PSU over WA.
I will save those for another post.
