Hey 76er fans (from your resident Boston sports d-bag)...

Tonight's game was outstanding.

Should be fun watching those two duking it out to win the east for the forseeable future (assuming Lebron moves on this summer, tho maybe even if he doesn't)

See you in the playoffs next year, and the year after that, and the year after that. This is going to be fun.

Great series... love the fight in both teams.

PS - Yankees still suck

Hoping the Sixers get Lebron and both teams stay healthy. Will make for awesome Eastern Finals for years to come, and legit contenders for the West (right now nobody in the East is beating the West winner).

Celtics will continue to dominate the Sixers, as they always have. Wait till we get Kyrie and Gordon back,!

If we can't beat the average celts 2 men down, how in hell are we going to compete when they are full gear?

They should have sat joel DOWN... he was killing us. this team ran well and had the game in hand with him out. He needs someone to explain the game to him... and how it doesn't involve him taking awful shots from 20 with no one under the basket. Re-fiung-peatedly.

My God. As were they all... this was a won game.

Your post assumes the Sixers won't improve. Simmons and Embiid will absolutely get A LOT better. They'll add a piece (maybe a big one) in free agency. While I hate that they lost, long-term, this might have been good for them. They got cocky with the win streak and how easy round 1 was. They played cocky and got out hustled. Maybe this makes them hungry to improve in the offseason.

cant agree at all about Embiid. yes he took 4 three's,(that as much on Brown IMO - make him stay down low) but other than that he was dominant tonight. Kept them in the game by himself in the 3rd. in the 4th they didnt get him the ball until like 4/5 minutes in

the guy who killed them tonight was JJ - he was just bad. Make that wide open 3, and they go up 7 late & the game is over.

Embiid is 7'250lbs, 24, played about only 4 years of hoops, coming off injuries, is wearing a mask, yet scored 27pts and had 12 rebounds last night. He is a shot blocking, Euro stepping, rebounding, down low playing, three point hitting freak. He will only get better.

LeBron goes to LA, if he goes anywhere.

Lebron wants to go somewhere where a. he can win, and b. he can decrease his usage as he gets older (which he has publicly said)

LA gives him neither of those options. Realistically only Houston and Philly fit what he is looking for.

So when the Phillies lost to the Cardinals in 2011, I take it nutty dave was a Cards fan. Whatever fits his agenda against all Philly teams.

My thoughts exactly. Nittany Dave's love for Pittsburgh and hate for Philly.. and all of a sudden he is a Celtics fan LOL!!!!

Boston has the best coach in the game and a great young team. Kyrie and Heyward are certainly very good players but we'll have to see how they fit in with the current group. Philly took a huge jump this year but haven't figured out how to close a playoff game. Stomping teams during the last part of the regular season was nice, but they probably needed a few more close, tight games to learn how to deal with end of game scenarios. This playoff experience will only help them. They'll be one of the favorites along with the Celts, Raptors and whatever team Lebron's on. With Ben, Saric and Embid, you have a great young, big 3 and you have Fultz as a big x factor. I know some want a big free agent to speed up the process but I'd like to see this group grow together, all become stars and win without an imported star. Great season for Philly. Sucks that Lebron gets a layup back to the finals. Don't think Boston has a prayer against them.

Looks like it's going to be a great rivalry. Celtics are also going to improve over the next few years. In addition to the development of guys like; Tatum, Brown and Rozier. The return of Kyrie and Hayward. The Celtics will have 2 more lottery picks over the next 2-4 years. The Sacramento pick next year. As long as it's not one overall. And, a 1 from Memphis that is protected for 2 years(1-8 in 2019, 1-6 in 20). And, unprotected in 2021. Danny Ainge with assets to move is a wizard. The Celtics have the collateral to make a move for any player in the league.

I'll take the opposing argument. The sixers made a ton of bone head plays and gave away at least 2 games in the series. The core talent is young and they blossomed when the team added the 2 vets mid-season. Remember, Jordan was once thought to not be able to get over the hump. The goal this year was to be .500 and make the playoffs. A #3 seed and series win is an over achievement of expectations. Nothing is guaranteed, but they should improve as they start making better decisions as they become veterans. Fultz is extremely talented and if he can get out of his own head, will improve the team. The biggest question in my mind is when you have a 22pt lead and it is cut to 10 inside of a few minutes, how you don't call a timeout. What the Hell was Brown thinking? It's almost unforgivable as a coach.

That was really weird. Almost like BB was frozen in disbelief and/or panic. Shoulda called back to back TOs to stop their momentum. The same kind of panic that the whole team showed in the last minutes.

Hope we've seen the last of Belinelli and Redick. Hope Covington gets his hands back from the shop cause the stone gloves he was wearing killed this team.

Embiid really needs to improve his post game, right now he is not a player you can clear out for and expect him to make a bucket... yet.

They're really going to need 2 more players to compete with the Celts because even without Irving and Haywood, they keep coming at you in waves. Hopefully those 2 will be Fulz and George.

IMHO, Embiid was not the problem. The problem is that the Sixers do not have either: (1) an offense which moves the ball around efficiently enough and sets enough back picks to get spot up shooters like Reddick open regularly; or (2) big, physical guards who can both defend the opposing team's guards and create their own shots. (I hope Fultz can be that guy.)

Compare Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Terry Rozier with TJ McConnell and JJ Reddick. THAT is where the Sixers lost this series. Watching the Sixers' half court offense, particularly during crunch time, was just brutal. It seemed like dumping it in to Embiid and Saric was their only option.

First, I agree the 6ers made huge strides this year. If you look at what was accomplished as a whole, it was a great year.

But it could easily have been so much better and coaching was a big part of that.

The Celtics showed us just how far we need to go... the distance is considerable... imo.

76ers were not ready for the physicality the Celts put on them. I saw some response last night. Learning experience

Embiid needs to hit the weight room big time and build up his conditioning. He is going to be a monster.

Simmons needs to find a jump shot. He is going to be a monster as well

76ers va Celtics for eastern dominance. As it should be. After all these years the loss still tastes bitter.

Hopefully Fultz is now ready to be the next “Celtic Killer” aka Andrew Toney

I see it like this for the future (coming to Fruition in 2 years)

The Sixers will have the 2 best players by a slight margin (Joel and Ben - assuming he learns to shoot a bit)

The Celtics will have the next 4 best players (Kyrie, Tatum, Hayward, Brown)

Lets see what moves each organizations makes moving forward. Sadly i have much more faith in Ainge than Colangelo

Tatum is a wonderful talent, wow, really fun to watch, unreal poise for a rookie. I'm not so sure about how well Kyrie will fit in; maybe it's just me but I kinda see him as being too much of a me-first personality for the Celtics to become really good.

you know what ... I was thinking as i was watching the series that they may be better off without Kyrie. Forced all the other players to be better without him & step up their game and more team oriented ... especially on defense

No idea if its true, but not a crazy thought IMO

There has been some talk of trading Kyrie in the off season with the emergence of Rozier. I read in the paper this morning that Boston has only 4 players from last year playing in this series. While that is crazy, the Cavs only have five players from last year playing in this series. None of those players include Kyrie, Thomas, or Crowder.

Josh Harris has once again said he is willing to pay the luxury tax. If true, they really do need to sign Lebron and either George, or deal for Leonard to keep up with the Celtics.

How do they pay all of those guys? The luxury tax is one thing, but 1) it will be crazy expensive with essentially 3 max players and 2) they’d pay a king’s ransom in the form of cheap, future assets for Leonard.

How do they pay all of those guys?
its pretty easy.....Take Dan Gilbert...he bought the Cavs (majority ownership) in something like 2005 when they were worth ~ $250m. He's lost a couple of million every year. But today, that franchise is worth $1.325 BILLION. That is over $1B in value in about ten years. So he lost $20m in operating income, offset by the tax deductions. Then, when he sales it CapGains will be ~ 25%.

For guys like Gilbert, it is like buying a $250,000 house on the lake. Ten years later it is worth $2m but cost you $20k per year in upkeep. If you can afford the operating expense, is there a better investment out there?
