I have a question after having recently attended a couple of WPIAL high school basketball playoff games at neutral sites, and this question also applies to PIAA playoff games, and to high school football playoff games as well. How is the ticket money that’s collected distributed?
I would imagine so much goes to the host school district to cover their expenses, school district staff working the event, providing security/law enforcement, fees to cover other expenses, etc.
Does a percentage or a pre-determined amount go to each participating team’s school district to cover expenses for the bus drivers, etc.? Does the WPIAL get a cut? How much of a cut? Is that a pre-determined amount or a percentage of the gate revenue? Does paying the officials come out of the WPIAL or PIAA’s share?
Does the PIAA get a cut when it’s a state playoff game? How much of a cut? Is it a pre-determined amount or percentage of the gate revenue?
Anyone here know? I was just curious.
Thank you in advance.
