I was looking at our roster/classes on our wrestling team and it became apparent that this, now to be classified as the soph class, may be one of the most historic classes of all time in wrestling. We all know of the Nolf, Nickal, Nevilles recruits. But Cassar and Rasheed may make the starting lineup as well next year. Then, even though he wasn't recruited with this class, Cortez is now part of this class as well and barring some dramatic accident will start as well. That's 6 starters from one class that may be together for the next 3 yrs. This has to be historic not only from Penn State but from other teams as well.

And next year's classes isn't shabby either.

Not sure how they put it together, but MN sure had a lot of high-end starters all graduate at once.
And of course are paying the price for it.
A contender for NC honors for several yrs, then the plunge.

Randy, I see what you're saying, but Minny didn't have NLee, Manville, Suriano and Hall to bridge the gap. Can you imagine if we did get SLee and Verkleerin next year. They both fit in perfect.

Where can one look at a list of next year's class? I know that Suriano & Mandville(sp?) are on board, but who else is potentially coming in?

Or as Jammen would call them - chokers

Go to the sticky posts at the top of this page: Penn State Eligibility/Recruiting Spreadsheet done by Diceman99. It has to be the best/easiest walkthrough of who's on our team and likely targets for the future. Dice you do a great job.

A tidbit from the Lair. A poster on the wrestling board lives in California. He asked around about A. J. Nevill and was told the kid is a "pinning machine." A.J and his brother Seth won CA state titles. A. J. at 197?

Another key difference is that Minnesota only contended while Penn State was wearing the National Championship tshirts. Success breeds success. Along with Cael's somewhat adequate coaching ability.

ALOL story from the recent Nationals. I was entering the Garden for the first session, and walked by this very large, good looking young man wearing a California shirt, asked if he was a Nevill, and was he the youngest brother, he replied yes, I congratulated him on winning the championship, he replied in the affirmative. His mother overheard my statement that I hoped we would see him in a Penn State singlet in the future, she told in no uncertain manner that he was not to answer any questions.

I just smiled, the phone calls, letters, other means of contact must be unbelievable for the families of these athletes. We must all learn to respect their privacy, me included.

Not just about their privacy. Also about protecting his future college eligibility. Pretty ridiculous rules about how and when colleges may contact prospects. But, with Seth still being a sophomore, he would need to initiate any contact.

The NCAA's definition of "boosters" is so loose as to include everybody who was ever a member of the Alumni Association. If your parents bought you a 1-yr membership as a graduation gift, congratulations, you're a PSU booster for life, even if you never re-upped it, and you have to abide by NCAA rules that you can't possibly know.

#5 Storley, #15 Ness, #20 Nick Dardanes, #78 Schiller, #81 Chris Dardanes. As coaches struggle to recruit a team with only 9.9 scholarships to offer one can only marvel at the hidden intricacies of the Penn State model.

Was Nick there with the team? Was A. J. there with his brother Seth and parents? Was Spencer Lee there? So many questions, so few answers. A paraphrase of the Joker. Was the Joker there?

Everyone else marvels at how that class produced zero national champs.

And all of those national championships that grouping won, jammenz. (El-Jefe beat me to it)

How about the graduating class of 2010 of the Iowa Hawkeyes?

It would help if JRob could keep his Minn studs (the few there are) home. Pennsylvania wrestling - a hidden intricacy.

A healthy dose of in-staters sprinkled with more expensive out of state standouts = a winning recipe. Oh, that and not having a crotchety, has-been head coach.

Since you love cheap shots against athletes (e.g. Gulibon, Altons) here I go:

Storley - Mike Evans's bitch
Nick Dardanes - choking dwarf
Schiller - Q Wright's Rag Doll
Ness - junk move merchant
Chris Dardanes - choking dwarf #2

Adam Busiello was in the front row per his Twitter - got a while to wait for him, though

I would be cautiously optimistic with Cassar. While in NYC I spoke with a person directly related to the program who informed me there are a number of issues surrounding Cassar that may make it difficult for him to get re-enrolled. Did not ask for details and he said it is no reflection on Cassar or his abilities. I would love to see him here as much as everyone else would, just not too sure it will happen based on my conversation. He also told me that Kellan Stout is looking very good in the room. Here's hoping we see Cassar in the blue and white this fall!!!

Who is "Cael"? I am familiar with "Bael", "Carl", and "Cal", but not sure who "Cael" is? LMAO.

Ah geez - Zain is stalling again

That exhibit of stalling during the finals was incredible. I've never seen stalling so punishing like that. That's the first time I've seen somebody hammer the living crap out of his opponent for 7 straight minutes and literally beat the tar out of the other guy, by stalling.

I would say that he "learned" this stalling technique, but we all know Cael cannot coach, lmao.

That technique is what Zain calls "Tricky Stalling".

Iowa definition of stalling, the other guy is beating our guy.
