1) hats off to App State..
*QB poised, will be a great one if he stays healthy
*Corners decent in coverage and very good in run support (negating Thompkins blocking on the outside)
*Tough passing scheme as they changed formation every single pre-snap with motion and wholesale formation resets once they they saw our D line up
2) OL
*my dad was complaining about running the middle, I have no problem, we were not losing yards and 2 yard gains turned into 4 yard games late.. we could have/should have ran outside more. Pass Pro was good outside of 3/4 snaps. They won the game in OT.
3) WR.. obviously Hamler is good, but Shorter/Hipp/Polk/Dotson will be heard from and often. Johson is a Dez Bryant clone including the head scratching drops.. Same game, good long speed, and he just throws off DB's on short throws. We are loaded, the best will earn the reps
4) DB.. liked the safety play from Taylor/Scott combo.. Wade still a bit lost. Here is what nobody mentions.. when you defend the Q3 kickoff and lose a Onside kick your D gets gassed. They played flawless thru first 3 quarters but had to take too many snaps in the Q1. I liked the amount of guys played, if we can hold off Pitt we have 2 games to iron out the D depth chart. We go NO holding calls despite them passing a ton.. the OS kick their kicker appeared to bat the ball b4 it went 10 yards. We were snake bitten in Q4 and it happens.
5) LB
*Koa Farmer is simply not a defender, he has terrible LB eyes. I've harped on horrible LB recruiting, we finally got some dudes in 2018, but we missed on far too many in 2016/15 and I'll puke if I hear "he's a perfect star candidate" one more time, we need some simply decent "LB candidates". If Luketa has a big mouth (communication) and isn't scared I'd throw him and Ellis out there.
6) kicking game, pleased by PK but punting was bad, Gilliken almost cost us that game, we lost 15 yards of field position on 3 straight punts. KO was bad, he line-drived it and defenders got sloppy possibly expecting him not to come out on the TD return. W/o that return we prob win comfortably, combine that w OS kick and ST was by far the biggest culprit, not the D who played great Q1-Q3. App is a good team, the neutralized our KR game by kicking it deep, and they are also good on FG.. good kicker, good team.. good coaching.
7) RB.. Sanders OK, but needs reps. Allen best between tackles at this point. Slade might be special, but will need to continue to get bigger and stronger, but he has added some good bulk to date. Group will be even better once Henry Ford arrives with his pickup sized shoulders and his 6.7 Liter V8 diesel. As far as vision I'd prob rank Allen the best so far. Allen is a rock, he is really strong and would the best RB on Ill, RU, or Iowa. He is short and came in with an ACL tear and all underestimate him.
8) Team, we can be a great team, but right now we are good but flawed. Simply too much to replace on D. Offense will have to (and might be able) to carry us. TE play will improve once Tommy Gun is installed. I like our OL a lot, can't understand the complaining there. Every single RB had no reps prior to this game. Simply rotate all DT's as we will need a bunch vs tOSU and Wisky.
9) I hope Harbaugh loses his mind, drops down on all fours, and attacks a ref like an angry Chihuahua.... would make make for some awesome gifs that keep on giving. I feel college football is a stronger overall game when Michigan and Notre Dame win 5 or less during the year.
10) QB... I'd suggest bleach on the rocks for any criticisms here.
