I saw him without crutches and then with his leg elevated onto the chair beside him - that was on btn.
Not sure I wouldn’t sit Nolf till NCAAs

If Nolf doesn’t wrestle B10’s does it mean he has to go at large to NCAA’s and how would seeding be effected? Not sure I wouldn’t sit Nolf till NCAAs
I agree that his stamina has to be a concern. So much of his advantage comes from pace. He could be reduced to a mere mortal w/o it.
He has to enter the tournament, make weight and take the mat for 1 whistle. If Nolf doesn’t wrestle B10’s does it mean he has to go at large to NCAA’s and how would seeding be effected?

The least intrusive Nolf seeding at nationals for the rest of the bracket would be 3rd. Anything lower would force the very top seeds to see him before the semis, and that wouldn't be fair to those guys, injury or no injury.Yes. If he steps on match and forfeits he will get an at large bid. His seeding would be affected but it doesn’t matter. He’s the best guy at weight by far. Whereever they seed Nolf will be the nightmare bracket for whoever is on his side.
I'm assuming from your other statements that high seed = 8th and low seed = 1st? I normally would say it the opposite way, so just clarifying. His seeding won't be effected much. Seeding is a 2 way street. It isn't just for the individual but also for others who might have to face him. If you make him a high seed just because of an injury default and some injury related forfeits it would really suck to for a low seed to have to face a 90%+ Nolf early in the tournament.
Swim and lots push ups, pull ups, dips with very minimal rest.Someone with no inside info or having a medical background, I would not let him wrestle at BIGs. I would wait until NCAAs to unleash him.
I do wonder what he is or can do to keep his stamina up? I am sure with his mental game, he is definitely preparing someway right now.
He's got 5 weeks until NCAAs. If our goal is to win the national championship I would give him all of that time. I'm not at all worried about his conditioning, he'll be ready.
How much can the right kind of cardio make up for not being able to wrestle?I agree that his stamina has to be a concern. So much of his advantage comes from pace. He could be reduced to a mere mortal w/o it.
Tan Tom, is that you?Agree. I think though if he can wrestle in Big10, he should MF to the wrestlebacks and just get a little live action in and MF after 2 matches.
I always worry about THAT much rust and no amount of practice time can take the place of mat action. I am sure if there is a way to get him 1 or 2 live matches before NCAAs they will try unless its a stupid risk.
I stayed after the match and was sitting right where the wrestlers came out and signed autographs and met with there family. He was without crutches and walked up the stairs right past me without a noticeable limpAnyone at BJC with some intel?
Nolf showed about an equal amount of offense as some of the Iowa wrestlers did last night.
Was with Jason after the dual. Nothing noticeable walking around, but wrestling-ready is another matter. Recovery talk is future-looking, and no one knows how the next 19 days will go before B1G's. Coach won't take any chances...the prize is later in March.
Nolf is the most intelligent, creative & intuitive wrestler in D-1.
If anyone can develop a revised strategy on his new limitations, he’s my first pick to solve the puzzle.
Tan Tom, is that you?
More seriously, if you're gonna wrestle Jason at B10s at all, why not Round 1 and then forfeit out? Depending upon # qualifiers, that will probably be his easiest match. And then medically forfeiting out means he enters nationals with 1 loss instead of 2 or 3.
Not out of line. My point was using Bigs to get him live action even if the intent isn't to have him finish the tournament. Not about seeds etc, more about getting a guy live reps.
If the coaches wish, they can get him the same type of action in the room with better control of the situation. If a scramble occurs and Nolf's knee is in jeopardy, the coaches can stop the action well before a ref in a match at the Bigs will stop the action. Further, the wrestlers in the room will wrestle the entire match staying away from the knee (while still giving him the necessary cardio of a wrestling match) while wrestlers in the Bigs will go straight for the knee as a perceived weakness. To me, it is a no brainer that he does not wrestle in the Big 10 Championships.
