How far should we drop in the polls?

The "quality" of our loss to Iowa just got worse. And we did little to pass "the eye test" this week.

If we win out, we'll be in the playoff and the Iowa loss will be seen for what it was.

That said, the current top four teams in the B1G East all control their own destiny to make the playoff. None have played each other yet. October 30th. PSU @ OSU. UM @ MSU. Big weekend.

Iowa fans will claim that they should still be ranked ahead of us since they beat us last week. Waiting for their trolls to show up as soon as the two polls are realized this morning.

Getting manhandled at home, Iowa will be lucky to be ranked about #15.

Down right spooky!👻🎃🧛🧟‍♂️

One thing the Iowa loss did was get Bama back in the top four. We’ll likely be #6 or #7. We will be behind Ohio State and maybe Michigan. I don’t think MSU’s squeaker against Indiana will help them jump us.

Auburn win was big for us , I think we will be ahead of Iowa and rightfully so
I'm not convinced that we'll be ahead of Iowa since they beat us head to head. It doesn't matter much anyway. Beating OSU in Columbus without Mustipher and with Clifford at 80% (hopefully) is a very tall order.

FWIW I didn't think MSU was very impressive vs Indiana yesterday. I'm feeling better about that game even without Mustipher. I have no clue what to think about Michigan at this point. We have them at home which helps. They average 247 yards per game on the ground so Mustipher's loss is very big. Some other guys are going to have to step up big time. That's asking a lot from Ellies (RS So), Tangelo (Gr), Izzard (RS Fr), and Fatorma (RS Fr). I have no idea what's going on with Hansard.

I'd counter that with PSU lost their starting QB, it was an away game, against a Top #5 ranked team, and lost late in the game. Iowa, played a home game, against an unranked team, and lost badly.

Big difference.

Wrong

I hope I'm wrong but convince me otherwise. Mustipher was a high 4* senior. He's being replaced by low 4* FR & SO (and in Mumbah's case, a mid 3* RS FR). I think that's a problem against teams like Michigan that run for 247 yds per game. And none of us know when Clifford will return or if he'll be 100%.

I'm seeing predictions that have Penn State #6 and Iowa #11. Sounds about right. As I have been saying for weeks, Iowa is around a top 15 team, certainly nothing better

Huh? What? As many national CFB analysts have pointed out - Iowa doesn't win that game if Clifford doesn't go down - that has already been incorporated into the pools. What wasn't incorporated in the polls was Iowa going out and unequivocally proving what all their critics said - including that they lose to PSU badly if Cliff doesn't go down.... their offense is pitifully bad and their pass defense is hugely susceptible to a well-schemed, quality passing attack as PSU proved.

PSU is not going to drop in the polls as the teams directly behind them were extremely unimpressive in their wins. Michigan might move to 6th in both polls (PSU currently 7 in AP and 8th in Coach's... and Michigan vice versa) and PSU #7. Now if Clifford doesn't make the start against Ill-noise.... and they struggle even if they win, PSU could drop as it will be unclear when, or even if, Cliff will return.... which would mean you have to assume Roberson is starter.... Could cause PSU to drop, but it won't matter much (assuming they at least win next week) as PSU will play duhO$U the next weekend.

Just looking for the new poll, which isn't up yet, but saw that in the coaches poll last week Iowa had one first place vote. That's ridiculous.

We stay at 7 and Iowa drops to 11.

I'm surprised that Iowa dropped so far. That said, the polls still don't mean a lot at this point. PSU still has games against 3 top 10 teams. We'll be in the college football playoff if we win out. We'll probably be a top 7 team if only lose one of our remaining games. 3 losses probably doesn't deserve a top 10 ranking.
