In general, I believe star ratings are pretty good indicators of how these kids should perform on the field for a Division 1 college football program. Yes, I know that many here will state many examples of how badly ratings proved out for some PSU players, but still, in general, I believe they are correct for the most part! For example, Hack was a 5 star, and even though his stats are not overly impressive, he will likely be a first round NFL draft pick, and maybe the overall #1 pick. He has it all as a QB, the arm strength, the accuracy, the size and many intangibles. DWILL was a 5 star HS recruit, and was named the #1 HS talent at his time by many. OK, he didn't make it big in the NFL, and he certainly wasn't a super star while at Penn State. But he DID have speed, moves, the look and the moves of an elite athlete. I know we had some linemen like that OL from Daytona Beach who was predicted to be a hands down star at PSU, or RB Austin Scott, but for what ever reasons, never made it! Was it due to injury, not progressing mentality wise, having to wait their chance on the bench just or plain lack of talent? Who knows, but I believe those 5 star players who don't make it to stardom at the college level are more the exception than the rule!
