Outside help is a MUST. 9 years prove that coach Franklin does not have the answers. Is he willing to change his offense scheme to help make the OL more aggressive? I will be at Beaver next year to see what he does. After almost 50 years, I again getting season tickets. At age 77, I only have 20-30 more years of Lion football. We are.

JHC, did you really need to start your second thread crying about the OL. 🤦‍♂️

Perhaps not have EVERY running play run out of a shotgun formation with the one sole running back always getting a deep handoff at the exact same spot.

Perhaps he might improve it by resigning.

I am not writing this to challenge open question what is the job of the HC

To interact with the assistant coaches and influence them not usurp their success by forcing them to run 100% readable plays that are guaranteed to fail like a mindless robot. The object is to get Ws...if the D gives you the pass 100% of the time, take it. If they give you the run 100% of the time take it.
You win enough and the Ds will change..
Take what ever they give you..

Have to agree with you. Either he changes his scheme or he finds the athletes to implement it. Just turned 70 and have been a Lions fan since 10.....Moved all around the world and USA for work and have yet to see a game in Beaver Stadium. One day for sure.....

Easy. When Trautwein was the OL coach at BC he had ALL his starters and ONE RESERVE OL drafted! That same year (with Bates coming out) none of our OL could get drafted all UFA. Let Trautwein go out and recruit the types of OL he had at BC here. We have not been recruiting those BC type OL for the past couple of years and it is showing badly (especially at the OT spot). Change the geographic area we have been recruiting OL from and mirror UM/MSU/WISKY/MINNY/IOWA. Then we will be fine. Lackawanna CC OLs ain't gonna get it done!

Agree the O line is a major factor why we can't run the ball and why Clifford runs for his life. I'm jot sure what a BC 9 line looks like and how it is different than what we recruit. We have had a number of 4 star O line players. But for some reason they don't perform.

Hire Mary as OL coach
She will consult all knowing arm chair coaches on board in regards to coaching them up and schemes to use
OL will be even worse
CJF will be fired for hiring Mary as OL coach
New HC will hire new OL coach
Board will continue to bitch about OL play
The End

😉

Our run game seems to follow the prescription of our defensive blitzes......slow moving with no momentum. I think it was Cowherd this morning talking about the Bills and not being able to run the ball. Made a lot of sense that the Bucs yesterday just sent people after the QB because they knew no run was coming. It was kind of the same thing you saw from Clifford this year.

Here are my ways to fix the issue:

1. Do our lineman and our OL Coach understand how to block for backs that are getting the handoff on an always late developing play? If they don't spend the off season in the film room teaching. If they do and just can't do it.....hit the portal.

2. Stop with trying to start 5 swing men. If Tengwell and Wallace are your best G then play them at G. Just because they can play OT doesn't mean they should. I always feel like we are playing people out of position and thus have 5 weak OL instead of 1 or 2. The interior should go: Tengwell-Scruggs-Wallace.

3. No more injured Cain and no more Keyvonne Lee as your every down back. Short distance maybe. Hopefully Ford stays and you have Ford and Singleton as every down backs and Lee, Cain, and Allen as the short yardage guy. If we are going to run slow developing plays we can't do it with slow moving backs.

Do those things and you fix the run game. Right now it is a perfect storm of problems. 1 you can handle, 2 gets tough, and 3 makes it impossible.

And you will finally figure out what a message board is for as far as discussion and speculation.

🤓🥸 You mean discussion, speculation, opinions, assumptions, bitching, moaning, armchair coaching, etc.? Figured that out a long time ago, but thanks.

No, no, Mary is not a fit for OL coach.

But I'd hire her in a flash to play the same role -- mentor, cheerleader, female authority figure -- as did a different Mary, namely Mary Fenlon, on John Thompson's great Georgetown teams back in the day. I think our Mary would be a natural for such a job.

By the way, Mary Fenlon died just a couple years ago. Great lady.

Those were not his starters, that was Addazio.

Wallace isn't a good anything. He played like dog crap and so did everyone else not named Tengwall.

Start the hell over.

He is a Guard trying to play Tackle. I bet you would see a huge difference if he bumped inside.

My issue is this....as dogshit as the line was last year none of the backups ever got a chance which tells me all I need to know about that.

What the hell does Cowturd know? That ASSHAT is still convinced you can't get cell service in State College and that there is only 1 restaurant in the downtown area.

Tengwall was a backup all year and he was the best o lineman on the roster. Part of fielding a horrible offensive line for 8 seasons is talent evaluation.

The one and only material issue for us. Get an OL that works and successfully runs the ball.

Find and identify the 2 best tackles then play them at tackle. Do the same thing for the guards, then do the same thing for center.

At least that's a start.

Has there been any word on Walker? I have a friend that I was talking to this morning.....he mentioned Walker coming back. I laughed and asked him where in the hell he came up with that. He said he had 12 games worth of film that said he shouldn't declare.

I was just wondering in anyone had heard anything.

Wouldn't mind: Walker-Wallace-UVA Transfer-Scruggs-Tengwell

I'll bet the coaches never thought of this brilliant concept. How long did it take you to formulate this revolutionary idea?

Several OC's and OL coaches.....making me think that strength and conditioning might be an area to examine. I know that our skill players do very well in the combine. But should the hog mollies be training differently?
